Excellent experience with Tripix and especially with Matteo - Night Ascent of Mount Pico - We had hesitated to make the ascent at night because we had read comments indicating that the ascent at night was really difficult but we did not regret our choice. Our Guide, Matteo, was perfect. Thanks to him, the climb went extremely well for our whole group and in fact did not present any particular difficulty. The spectacle at the top of the Pico in the early hours of the day is magical. Not to mention that the night climb avoids the "flood" of hikers of the day.

Difficult hike for an absolutely stunning view - This hike was the most difficult hike we have done but getting all the way to the top was well worth it. Our tour guide, Metaeu (sooo sorry I spelled his name wrong!) was AMAZING! Funny, encouraging, and took great care of our group!

Spectacular - The climbing of the mountain at night was nothing short of wonderful. Matteo, the Guide, very good, kind and super prepared.
It was one of the best experiences of our lives, seeing the sun rise from the highest peak in Portugal.

I strongly recommend the guided night climb! - One of the greatest highlights of my trip to the Azores. Taking the guided night climb was the best idea. I appreciated not having to care about the access, the insurances, the walking poles and the lamp.
There was no one else in the trails but our small group. We quickly became very friendly with each others. We only met other people at the summit during the sunrise.
Our guide Bruno immediately learned our name and asked very regularely how we were doing. He was fun and friendly, but also very caring and gave us advices in the trickiest part of the hike. He really had a paternal caring energy with us.
I would have like a bit more general info during the hike about the island, the volcano, the flora etc... (especially during the way down when there was light) but he answered all my questions so that's fine.
The pace was slow and careful. I could have go a bit faster on the way up, but this pace ensured our safety and prevented me from swetting :P At first I felt the walking poles were useless, but on the way down, they became essential!
Tripix provided very detailed informations about the climb and the required gear and clothing. Even if I found the climb easier than expected, do not understimate it and bring lots of water (I drank 3.5 liters). Also, do not underestimate how cold it's gonna get at the summit. I am canadian and I definitely needed my coat, gloves, dawn hat and scarf!
No need to talk about the magnificient scenery. We saw shooting stars on the way up, crazy sunrise with the perfect amount of clouds afar, and great views on the way down.

Highlight of the trip - In summary, I can say: The tour was the highlight of my trip to the Azores.
The most important information is clearly presented on the website - you find what’s needed. Questions were answered immediately, including follow-up questions.
As guest you get prepared with a detailed list: what to expect, what to wear, what to bring, where to meet…
Top service from the office!
The tour itself was amazing from first minute on to the end. Matteo loves what he does, and this results in a unique tour experience for everyone.
You could feel his passion for his work and his empathy at every step. Wishes and needs were met perfectly. It was all over far too quickly.
Stunning photos and memories will endure.
I can highly recommend this provider.
They have so many other offers, that's a reason to come back to the Azores and to Pico.
Obrigado Tripix! Obrigado Matteo and Joana! Obrigado Montanha Pico!

Matteo and Bruno deserves an award! - This was probably one of the most mentally and physically challenging thing I have ever done in my life but I dare say also of the most memorable and life changing thing as well. Beginner hikers beware, this is a VERY ADVANCED hike. I was an emotional wreck at the end of it but Matteo and Bruno are the kindest, experienced, wonderful people/guides on earth. I wouldn’t have been able to complete this hike without them. Me and my friend came very under prepared and Bruno gave us his extra hoodie/zipup and Matteo allowed us to follow behind him going up so he can guide us the whole way and make sure we didn’t give up and also that we were safe. On the descend down, Bruno led the pack and stayed behind towards the end to really guide my friend. Towards the middle of the descend, I was having a VERY hard time and Matteo stayed behind to ensure that I completed the hike safely. Truly the worst and best experience of my life. I was in tears at the end of the hike. Especially towards the kindness and reassurance I had from Matteo. I really felt my body break and I was starting to really break mentally but Matteo kept reassuring my and making sure I kept my confidence and spirit. I couldn’t have done this without them. I would give them a MILLION stars if I could. They also kept taking videos and gave us some much history, constellation information, and photography tips to capture the best pictures. They are the most wonderful people in the world. I was able to learn through this hike that Matteo had hiked this more than 850 times and Bruno’s dad is also a mountain hike guide. Although a EXTREMELY difficult hike, you will be in safe hands with Matteo and Bruno. The most dedicated and wonderful people you will ever meet!

Beginner’s Beware - This was my FIRST time hiking (ever) so if you are a beginner or have limited hiking experience(s), this will be an EXTREMELY challenging climb. However, I was lucky to be led by Matteo and Bruno who were both so patient and motivating it really pushed me to complete the hike. If it wasn’t for them, I would’ve quit early on but they wanted to make this a memorable experience for me (and everyone in the group) and constantly supported me to make sure I was pushing through. Seriously, if you happen to have either Matteo or Bruno lead your group, you are in GREAT HANDS! Trust them if you don’t trust yourself!
If you are up for a challenge, make sure you have the stamina, athleticism, and mental fortitude for this hike - Pico’s elevation is anything but pequena. Another huge tip is to read/review the PDF they send out before the hike and follow their instructions! I wasn’t prepared whatsoever and underestimated the elevation, weather, and apparel needs.
To summarize, 10/10 - this was the highlight (and struggle 🥹) of my trip in Pico.
