Amazing tour guide and amazing two days! ☀️ - Renato was a fabulous guide with a lot of enthusiasm and one of the best tour guides we have had the pleasure of experiencing. We met at 8:30 and finished around 4:30. We originally booked one day but after the experience on the first we decided to book for the second day. 🦎 Great way to see the best spots on Madeira and as we did not have a car it was definitely worth the money. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Madeira.

Brilliant, knowledgable and fun. - We had a guide called Renato Rodrigues, very prompt, polite and friendly. He spoke several languages so all on the tour could understand what was being seen. He had great knowledge of flora, fauna and history, above all was Renato’s passion for his island in all aspects.

Renato = Best tour guide - Top tier tour with unlimited amount of information given by Renato while also providing witty jokes and making each person in the minibus feel as comfortable as they can possibly be. This two day tour was a very efficient way of showing the full view of Madeira with Renato making the difficult roads seem very easy and made sure everyone was at ease with his safe driving. I would recommend everyone that comes to Madeira that they take this tour as you learn the culture, tradition and history throughout the tour. Renato is a great man who was really respectful with the way he took care of us as a group and was helpful when we had questions for him not to mention when we had stopped at certain places he would take time out of his break to engage in small talk. It is incredibly rare to find such a interesting and exciting character like Renato who has a buzz of energy despite having a job that may be repetitive but Renato made sure he put a smile on everyone's face and left everyone satisfied. I hope this helps people with future plans of going to and touring Madeira. I wish the best for you Renato :).

Excellent experience - guide made a big difference - This was a fantastic trip, would definitely recommend. So many beautiful things to see and experience. Our guide/driver Gama was really nice, really knowledgeable and had a particular interest in horticulture, which made the trip extra special as he knew a fair bit about the unique vegetation of the island. He made us feel welcome and all the guests got to know each other thanks to him. He is also an excellent driver and we felt safe, even on the scariest of mountain roads. He clearly loves his job and Madeira and makes you feel like you are experiencing the real culture, and not just getting the standard tour of pretty things. We did the 2 day tour and we loved both of them, and both were special. He translated into multiple languages for all the guests too. Would definitely recommend, and I would do it again.

A reasonable taster of the Island - As often with this type of tour, a lot depends on the guide. The first day was certainly better because we had an excellent guide, Sergio. His English was excellent and he provided so much information. He spoke a lot whilst we were driving and most of it was informative. On the 2nd day our guide was not so good. Her English was not so good - heavily accented so quite difficult to understand and she had far less to say. The itinerary was fine, although on the first day we stopped at a small banana plantation where we walked up a path at the side and back down again with nobody explaining anything. Similarly on our 2nd day on the Eastern side, we had a lengthy stop at Santana over lunch time and there really isn't anything worth seeing other than a brief 5 minute look at the small colourful thatched cottages. The price of the tour was reasonable and it does give a reasonable taster of what the Island has to offer. For us, it meant that if we were to return, we would probably feel comfortable to hire a car and know where we might want to go and spend more time.

Would recommend - Great value for money. Would and have recommended. The first tour guide talked a lot, the second didn't. We also felt rushed a bit. Otherwise all great.

East and West tours of Madeira Island - We were in Madeira from Feb 25-MAr 9th. The first week we took a tour with Bruno on the east side of the island. We can't say enough good things about him. He was witty and certainly knew the history of his island pointing out interesting things along the way. What a wonderful day it was with him. The second week we took a tour of the west side with Paolo. He looked like he had rolled out of bed and grabbed the first thing he could to wear and pulled them on. He hadn't shave and looked ill prepared for the day. He didn't appear to know what the microphone was for as he didn't use it all day. All he did was drive. He said that he would be here at a certain spot and was often late. He drove frequently on the wrong side of the road. We had high hopes for this tour as the first tour was so good. Take the east tour with Bruno any day. At all costs avoid the west tour with Bruno.
