• Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio - Vereda dos Balcões is a short trail, 1.5 km each way, leading to the scenic Miradouro dos Balcões. Starting from Estrada Regional no. 103 in Ribeiro Frio, this easy trail, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, follows the Levada da Serra do Faial.

Along the Vereda dos Balcões route, travelers will encounter Madeira’s native and endemic species, adding various shades of green to the Laurissilva forest. Keep an eye out for tree species from the Lauraceae family and exotic plants along the trail’s edges.

Continuing on, we reach Cova da Roda, where the silence and serenity of the landscape envelops us. In Santana, the famous thatched cottages enchant with their colorful colors. Fortim do Faial offers a strategic stop, with stunning views of the ocean and the jagged coastline. Heading towards Ponta de São Lourenço, we are surprised by a lunar landscape, with dramatic rock formations and the sea as far as the eye can see. To top it off, at Cristo Rei do Garajau, the imposing statue and the breathtaking views leave anyone in awe. An epic day, full of excitement and discovery!
