Don't Miss: The Easiest Way to Explore Madrid! - I had an amazing experience with Big Bus Tours in Madrid! I loved how easy it was to explore the city without having to worry about scheduling or figuring out transportation. The convenience of hopping on and off at key spots made it a breeze to see everything I wanted. The commentary was also a great way to learn about the history and culture of the city, which added so much to the overall experience. Finding the bus stops was simple, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the journey. I can’t wait to use Big Bus again on my next trip which will be in Rome!

Avoid the Big Bus - There are competing hop on-hop off bus services in Madrid. We went with Big Bus and were sorry we did. We expected the pre-recorded commentary and ear buds, instead they had a woman giving the tour in Spanish and English. She had such a pronounced accent and ran the Spanish and English together. It was extremely difficult to understand her. Note to Big Bus ... bring back recorded tours.

Skip this tour - We have been on Big Bus tours in other cities where the info given is on tape and VERY clear Bus drivers on our 2 buses were terrific. Our first bus scanned our ticket and we did not travel far before hopping off but that young women spoke slowly and clearly The final trip had a lovely very young woman that was not understandable at all. She spoke fast and her English was not at all recognizable. Sorry our party was American A young man who also had on a big bus jacket was sooooo very helpful in letting us know what we were passing and when to get off By the way your city is very beautiful!!!

Avoid the Big Bus tour in Madrid - Four if us ( two couples) paid more than $50 per couple for the Big Bus Hop on Hop off tour with 24 hour service. The commentary during the ride was limited and difficult to hear, but the worst part of our experience was the unavailabilty of the bus in the evening. We departed at the Plaza Mayor stop at 6:30 p.m. and returned to catch a bus at 8:50 p.m. After waiting until 9:30 p.m. we gave up on getting the "24 hour service" and took a taxi back to our hotel. During our waiting time a competitor tour bus came by three times. Do Not use the Big Bus ; choose an alternative.

Not the most informative Hop On Hop Off that I have ever taken. - This tour used a live tour guide rather than the pre-recorded info about each of the stops. Our guide, Maria, was very funny and chatty. Her English was pretty good and was very understandable. Unfortunately, she was very light on actual Madrid information. She relied on humor rather than details. She didn’t give any info on several stops nor any insight into the deep cultural significance of this beautiful city. I did learn that Madrid has 54 theaters however.

You can save yourself - Unfortunately not recommended, long wait and difficult to understand moderation. Maybe you should take another provider.

The Big Bus is a Big Bust - Horrid experience. The tour guide’s English was almost incomprehensible, and when you could understand him he had little of interest to say. But worst of all, we got off the bus to have dinner and after dinner waited over 45 minutes for a bus that never came by again. Drivers of competing companies told us they thought the Big Bus was no longer running, which would have meant they were hardly the 24-hour bus they presented themselves as when they charged pretty high charges for what was hardly worth the cost. Whether that was true or not, we wound up grabbing a cab to get back to our hotel. There are competing companies (including Madrid Bus) that had 4-5 buses pass us while we waited in vain for our ride. I suggest if you want to do this admittedly touristy thing you use one of them.

To flee!! - To flee!!! .... Think tourists are pigeons. French friends, do not take this operator and especially near the plaza mayor. After a family purchase without even asking us the available languages (English and Spanish) we did not use the tickets. We tried to get our unused tickets refunded, categorically refusing. What a shame! And making fun of us.

Do not use - Wait times are more like 30 minutes. Bus drove by us in a rain storm without stopping. Use the other services as they are more frequent. Driver was more interested in chatting with friends and car constantly honked there horns as he was swerving everywhere
