Prado tour and lunch - Mariano was a great tour guide for the Prado. His use of the fine art works to cover years of Spanish history made the art so much more meaningful. Amaratxa was very entertaining and told us many interesting things about the food culture of Spain. The lunch was excellent.

Great Tour Guide! - Our tour was excellent! Montsé, our tour guide, did a great job presenting the paintings she shared with us. Her art history background enabled her to provide detailed commentary of the artists and how their work reflected what was occurring centuries ago in Madrid and Spain. Her presentation skills enabled her to make history come alive rather than feel like being stuck in a college lecture. Well done! Lunch was a fun experience. The food was good, but stepping back into history to a restaurant that has existed for 300 years was a unique opportunity.

Guide is superb, combines... - Guide is superb, combines history with Prado art to place the items in historical context. Learned many new aspects of Spanish history. The food part of the tour was outstanding as well. Lunch stands out as one of the best meals during our stay in Madrid. The guide flawlessly shifted from art and Spanish history to food and the culture. Again most highly recommend

Highlight of our day. - Great opportunity to try vermouth and experience Botin. Our tour guide was most welcoming. We should have tried to arrive at 9:30 instead of 9:45. Roads were closed for a marathon and we missed the Prado part of the tour.

Prado, Botin Tour - Alphonse was an incredible guide. He took us thru the museum, showing us many of the highlights. Then he knew a lot about the literary quarter of the city that we walked thru on the way to lunch at Botin. He even got us into Botin a few minutes before they opened for lunch so we could tour all floors of it. The lunch was awesome. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madrid.

Culture and food tour - We had about a 1.5 hour tour of selected paintings at the Prado - with a chronological order of the background history as to some of the paintings. It was an interesting way to highlight the various paintings - concentrating on Goya, Velasquez and El Greco. I guess that the collection is so vast that no tour can take in everything. Then we went to an old tapas bar for vermouth and a plate of tapas - pork crackling. This was then followed by a tour of and a meal at Botin. All the dishes at Botin were delicious- and the tour of the cellars was interesting. The main course of suckling pig was well-worth it. Started with ham and chicken croquettes, finished with cheesecake. Delicious! Our guide was Rosita, who was extremely well-informed and made the whole experience very enjoyable! Would highly recommend.
