Mariluz is fantastic! Intelligent and easy going! So grateful we found Madrid Travel Private Tours and Mariluz! - We just got back from a week in Madrid and had the best time! Mariluz was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable about history, art and culture. She is also very easy going and friendly. Very comfortable to be with. We had 3 private tours with Mariluz. The first day we did a 2 hour private car/2 hour walking tour of Madrid and saw all the highlights. We then stopped and had lunch at Cafe Oriente near the Royal Palace. The stewed oxtail was delicious. The Royal Palace was stunning and worth the visit. That night she reserved a spot for us at Corral de Moreira for a mesmerizing Flamenco Show. It was SO GOOD. The second tour was a guided tour through the Sophia Reina where Mariluz told us all about Pablo Picasso’s iconic painting Geurnica. The history is heart breaking and inspiring all in one and we were very touched to hear of its homecoming in 1981. There were many many more amazing, beautiful works of art to enjoy as well. It was incredible! On our last day we did a full day in Toledo. It was so interesting! Mariluz took us to several places including Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes, J. Serrano Ceramic and Crafts Factory (got some beautiful handmade painted bowls made out of local Toledo clay), Synagogue of El Transito, El Greco’s painting The Burial of the Count of Orgaz at Iglesia de Santo Tomé and finally The Cathedral (Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo). It was fantastic and Mariluz took us expertly through the warren of small streets to each stop. I can’t recommend this business enough. Mariluz is wonderful!

Efficient way to see Madrid - This was a great way to see Madrid. Our tour guide, Mariluz, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and had tons of great history, answering all of our questions as well. The tour starts with a 2 hour driving tour, stopping along the way to take photos. There is a separate driver so the tour guide is able to focus on the tour itself. Then, there is a 2 hour walking tour that starts in the city center. We did this tour on our first day in Madrid, and I thought that I would use it to book any sites / museums that we wanted to go inside and see. Generally this was a good plan, but one note is that the Royal Palace gets booked up way in advance. We were able to see the exterior on the tour but if you’re interested in going inside I’d recommend booking well in advance.
