- Literary Quarter (Barrio de Las Letras) - Visit one of Madrid’s oldest hardware stores, which has preserved its original decor for over a century. Today, this restaurant reflects the character of the hardware store while offering exquisite lunches, dinners, tapas, and wines. Here, we’ll savor the world-famous Croqueta paired with a perfectly matched glass of wine. As we depart, our guide will introduce the neighborhood divided by Calle Atocha, one of Madrid’s main streets.
- Literary Quarter (Barrio de Las Letras) - Our next stop is a restaurant specializing in Iberian products and Spanish cuisine. No visit to Spain is complete without enjoying one of our favorite products, Jamon Iberico. This former Museo del Jamon has been renovated and redecorated post-pandemic to serve locals. Here, we’ll indulge in a Jamon tasting featuring three types of Iberian hams, with our guide explaining their production. Naturally, a good ham is best enjoyed with a good wine, and our guide will recommend one for this tasting.
- Mercado de Anton Martin - “Vamos por un vermouth,” a typical expression for this refreshing aperitif. At this stop, you’ll experience the vermouth culture firsthand, accompanied by a Basque pintxo delicacy, the “Gilda.” Our guide will share insights into the history of this sweet, spicy, and sour pintxo and the drink that perfectly complements it.
- Lavapies - Known for its bohemian vibe, Lavapies will be our final stop before dinner. Here, we’ll visit one of the neighborhood’s most renowned bars to enjoy a delicious, smoky charcuterie product from Leon and a typical wine from the Basque country.
- The Cooking Clubhouse - We conclude our tapas tour back at Madrid’s premier and most enjoyable cooking school. Here, we’ll be welcomed into an exclusive private dining room for a sumptuous sit-down dinner. Relax in a charming, candle-lit, 120-year-old cellar and savor a main course of your choice: meat or fish (vegetarian option available), followed by a delectable dessert and unlimited wine pairing, featuring a selection of white, red, and sparkling wines. End the evening by socializing with the new friends made on this tour. As a parting gift, you’ll receive a PDF filled with key information, fun facts about the restaurants, recipes, and the areas visited, plus suggestions for places to explore during your stay in Madrid.
