Extraordinary ! - Meenakshi’s Amman temple at Madurai, is a treasure of ancient history and culture. It’s not just a seat of religious faith but a cradle of Tamil civilisation. When you enter the gates of this temple- you need the understanding and commitment of someone who is knowledgeable enough to give you real facts and interesting enough to give you stories to keep your attention. If you want to make this a visit transform into a journey- book this activity. Dhanbalan is your escort in this beautiful experience and he is magnificent in his job.

An Evening at Meenakshi Temple and Tamil Culture - I am experienced traveler to India but with relatively little experience with Tamil Culture. I booked this trip with the hope of learning what I have long been missing. Although I have been to Meenakshi Temple before, I thought having a quiet evening tour at the Temple with an experienced guide would work out well. The tour was even better than my already high expectations.
Dhanabalan is highly knowledgeable and engaging. He provided a well-organized tour. He answered all my questions efficiently and clearly. He even kindly asked me questions(!) to test me, which helped me learn more and more quickly, and to better appreciate the experience.
Balan’s knowledge of the Temple and Tamil Culture is extensive. He is well known at the Temple. Balan is respectful and attentive, but keeps a low profile to those around us. It made for a very pleasant and personal evening that I will not forget.
During my time with Balan he suggested many other things for me to do while in Madurai. High on his list was the Keeladi Museum which is dedicated to extensive Tamil archaeological work. I visited for several hours the following day. Very impressive! It is a new, modern museum and I would have completely missed it without Balan’s encouragement. My understanding of India has taken a big step forward.

Danabalan tourguide. - After reading lots of reviews we decided to try and find Danubalan Peramai. We succeeded and had the best guide for the Meenaksha temple in Madurai. Knowledgable, nice and speaking perfect English. Enjoyed our time with him and learned a lot. Thanks Danabalan and thanks to all the review writers for your perfect advise.

Brilliant experience - Dhanabalan was the most amazing tour guide. His level of knowledge about the Meenakshi temple was extraordinary. He guided us through the ' going to bed ceremony' explaining exactly what would happen and the meaning behind it. This allowed us to be fully immersed in the experience which was phenomenal. He also knew exactly where to stand so we literally got ring side seats. What a fabulous experience it was definitely not to be missed.
The next day we went back and he explained the history and structure of the temple dispelling any myths and took us into many of the corners of the temple. His command of English was extremely good and so the whole experience was superb. I can't recommend Balan highly enough. Thank you Balan for making the visit to the Meenakshi temple so interesting and worthwhile

We highly recommend - Bala is an excellent guide. He speaks English well, knows his subjects well, is attentive to his clients and answers questions attentively.
We visited the great temple of Madurai for two hours with him, and we did not see time pass.
We recommend without reservation.

Top class tour - We did a walking tour with Dhanabalan who is an experienced guide with an indepth knowledge of Madurai Our tour lasted 4hrs and it was a very enjoyable and informative experience
Dhanabalan was able to answer all our questions, ranging from religion history to indian life in perfect english
We have no hesitation recommending Dhanabalan as a tour guide

A must to know Madurai -
We had an amazing time exploring Madurai with Dhanabalan Perumal! What was supposed to be a three-hour tour ended up lasting much longer because he was so passionate about sharing the city's history and culture.
He took us to the most important landmarks, telling fascinating stories that made everything feel alive. But what really made the tour special was how he guided us through the bustling local markets, giving us a real taste of the city—literally! We got to try delicious local treats and experience everyday life in Madurai.
Dhanabalan is full of knowledge and shares it with so much enthusiasm. Plus, his English is excellent, which made everything easy to follow. His energy, storytelling, and deep love for the city made this one of the best tours we've ever done.
If you're visiting Madurai, do yourself a favor and book a tour with him. You won’t regret it!

Highly recomended - DAHANBALAN was both friendly and professional. He was highly informative about Tamil Nadu's conceptions and religion. He loves his people and country, and it shows in his knowledge. We had a very interesting time with him. More so, he also helped us whole heartedly in other matters like taxes.
