This immersive guided tour, lasting over three hours, will transport participants back to the 7th century, exploring the era of the Pallavas through remarkable rock-cut monuments. The tour is conducted by a company endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and is a proud member of the Indian Tour Operators Association.
Participants can choose to explore on foot or use their own vehicle. Alternatively, arrangements for a tuk-tuk or autorickshaw can be made. The tour showcases world heritage site masterpieces such as the Pancha Rathas, which are rock-cut monolithic temples, Arjuna’s Penance, a vast open-air rock relief, the gravity-defying Krishna’s Butterball, and the Shore Temple, the last of the 7 Pagodas mentioned by Marco Polo.
Mahabalipuram holds the distinction of being declared the world’s first stone carving city. However, the younger generation of sculptors is migrating to urban areas for employment, posing a threat to this exquisite art form. Our company supports this community by training and employing local guides and purchasing their crafts to bolster their livelihoods.
