The journey begins at our booth located directly on the beach in front of Hotel 40 Cañones. Enjoy a boat ride on one of our 25ft pangas to key areas of the Great Mesoamerican reef. Our snorkeling locations are selected to provide a comprehensive view of the local flora and fauna, as well as the best opportunities for encounters based on weather and water conditions.
We will explore 2 to 3 different snorkeling sites on the Great Mesoamerican reef, the second largest coral reef system globally. These areas are home to a variety of Caribbean fish and coral species, including French and Gray angelfish, Damselfish, Bluehead and Yellowhead wrasse, Stoplight parrotfish, Grunts, Puffers, and more. With some luck, there might even be sightings of a spotted eagle ray or green sea turtles.
We are fully committed to sustainable fishing practices and low-impact tourism experiences on the Great Mesoamerican reef system here in Mahahual, Quintana Roo.
After your excursion, relax on the beach and enjoy our paddleboards or kayaks. Our location is conveniently next to Hotel 40 Cañones.

We have over 50 years combined experience working and living at the Great Mesoamerican Reef here in Mahahual, Costa Maya. We offer expertise on environmental conditions, as well as flora and fauna in the area, and our tours are always provided in English and Spanish.
Our tour includes semi-professional snorkeling equipment (all cleaned and sanitized before and after every use) including fins, certified life vests, and a certified guide who will also take underwater photos of your experience as a courtesy.
We offer snacks to enjoy right on the boat! We provide water, beer, sports drinks and, with online reservations, our own La Leyenda Craft Beer for free.
Our beach is next to “Hotel 40 Cañones”, where you are free to lounge on the beach, use our kayaks and paddle boards.
