A day filled with Culture and Fun - Absolutely loved this excursion with Leo (tour guide) and Julio (driver). I received a call the day before to confirm details and confirm ship time arrival and departure. They also confirmed and stayed in line with the time we specified for arriving back to the port. Leo was very knowledgeable and we talked a lot about Mayan and Mexican culture. The water at Bacalar was so beautiful. It is a must see. As someone who gets seasick, the pontoon boat and the water was calm. The drive wasn't bad at all. I suggest Bacalar then tacos then the ruins ( in that order to avoid crowds). By the time we arrived at the ruins, we were the only ones there so there was no need to rush. We enjoyed more info and history from Leo then headed back to the dock. The meetup spot was easy to find. We just walked out and there was a sign with our name. This tour is a must! Thanks Leo and Julio!

Worth the money! Best Excursion from our cruise by far!!!!! - We were on a Caribbean cruise and Costa Maya was the last stop out of 4 excursions. The first three excursions got increasingly worse as we travelled (Cozumel, Belize to Honduras). All the excursions felt like a money grab/scam, so we were a bit nervous coming into Costa Maya because it was the most expensive out of the 4. However, it blew all our expectations from all aspects and ended our cruise excursion on a high note!!! First off, the directions and communication were very professional and friendly right from the start. It took a while for me to figure out how to navigate the communication as I used IG first, but then started chatting on Whatsapp. Tino, the main contact, was great. He was very responsive and courteous. He was the real deal. When he greeted us in person, he was exactly what I expected, a happy and passionate guy. The tour was the full 6-hours they promised. It was jam packed from beginning to end. Our guide Leo was amazing. He was very informative in his history and showing us the Mayan culture. You can tell that he was very passionate as he explained things in detail and valued us asking questions. We started with the ruins. It was a bit crowded, but Leo made sure that we were able to get a full private tour and he was also great at getting us pictures of the archeological sites without other tourists around. It was a very hot day, so he also was weary of the amount of time we spent in the sun, providing us opportunity to wait in the shade. FYI, there are mosquitos if you wander off the paths, so bring some repellent or spray. The travel to and from each location was faster than we expected. Andre (?) was a solid driver and always had the A/C on full blast before we entered the van. We has a 4 and a 2 year old, so we had two strollers. It didn't fit in the van, but Tino accommodated us by having another car follow us with the strollers. NOTE: Strollers are good from the port as it is about a 10-15 min trek. Also it is good at the ruins, but only for heavy duty stoller as it is on gravel and won't work if your stroller has small wheels. The BEST part of the tour is the lagoon. It is the most spectacular water that we've seen!!! All types of crystal clear blue water. It was especially refreshing jumping into the lagoon after being in the heat all morning. The water is fresh water and knee deep. Just beautiful! Great for pictures. We took a Pontoon out and it was perfect way to see all the different areas of the lagoon. Leo also had a cooler full of bottled water, beers, sodas, and a bottle of Tequila. By the end of it, even the seniors were doing shots! We were a family of 8 with 4 others and we polished the bottle and beers. It was the perfect vibe: being on the water, great guide, buzzed, and meeting great people around the world. Finished off with an authentic Mexican lunch (fajitas, tacos, quesadillas) before heading back to the port. Here are some of the small negatives. A few people were quite late docking from our cruise, so we had to wait an extra 40 minutes. But Tino was pro-active and allowed us to wait in the A/C Van as opposed to sitting outside, and gave us refreshments and offered us a quick city tour. Another group from a different cruise was very late, and we didn't wait for them. Instead Tino drove them in another vehicle to meet us at the ruins to not delay/or shorten our tour time. Lastly, when we were dropped off, we thought it would be at the port, but it was still a bit of a distance away from the port which made the walk 10 minutes longer than expected. Not the end of the world, but harder when you drank tequila and in the heat with 2 kids. But overall, everyone in my group agreed that it was the best excursion of our trip and well worth the money. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I was hesitant in booking as it was more expensive then the other 3 stops, but it was well worth it! Pay to make your trip memorable!!! Thank you Leo, Tino and the rest of the Chak Ek group!

Totally worth it!! - Traveled with a 10 month old baby and fairly mobile grandparents. Cons: finding the way all the way out of the Costa Maya port is pretty hard, took us almost 20 minutes from the ship. But once there, it was really smooth sailing. Pros: our guide Leo was amazing, super enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. The freshwater lagoon was beautiful and our baby loved splashing around. Lunch was at El Taco Loco, highly recommend the fish tacos. Being able to wander the jungle and walk up the temple ruins was great. Lastly, our driver Eric was super fast and safe. Saved us at least 30 minutes of travel compared to the giant tour buses.

A day to remember! - Highly recommend! Very attentive, great customer service and we learned so much on this tour (even Mayan math!). Juan, his driver and the boat captain were so helpful and nice. We were a little nervous booking outside of the cruise, but so glad we did. They ensured we were back in time to catch the ship, but maximized every minute of the tour. The lagoon was amazing! Drinks and snacks available the entire trip. If you're on the fence, just do it. Can't recommend enough!

Great customer care - This agency truly cares deeply about its customers and for that I highly recommend them to anyone. We had booked a tour of Chacchoben & Bacalar but due to a medical emergency our ship had to change course and we did not arrive on time to complete our tour. Tino listened about our situation, was understanding, and issued a refund to us. The next time I visit Costa Maya, I will definitely attend the Bacalar tour with this agency and recommend to my friends as well.

Chacchoben Ruins a Wonderful Site and Beautiful Lagoon - Chacchoben ruins were an impressive site. Got there before anyone so we had the place to ourselves and got a lot of good pictures without the crowds. Guide was very informative and knowledgeable about the history and it was fun to learn about the many layers of this temple and the surrounding sites. Can only go up 5 steps on the back and side but can go up a little further on the back to check it out. Went to the Bacalar Lagoon and the water was gorgeous but only one really good swimming spot where you could stand for several thousand feet. The black cenote not worth visiting the the blue was beautiful and the water not too cold. Had a lunch afterwards and the tacos and quesadillas were good but I assume because the sauces on the table are left out all day, they may have given a few of us major diarrhea for the next 3 days...maybe TMI but lay off the sauces if you can.
