We were in a van with 9... - We were in a van with 9 travelers, tour guide and driver. Having the smaller group was really nice and tour guide gave both detailed history and current information about the local town and residents. Ruins were amazing, but it was also good to travel through local town and neighborhood to see how people live in the area outside the ruins. Loved being able to stop at a local spot on the side of the road for food. Empanadas were delicious!

Wish we could have gone on the excursion. - I gave you five stars because of your excellent correspondence before the excursion. Our ship was unable to dock due to a storm and unsafe conditions. I hope you will process the refund soon. We’re very disappointed that we didn’t get to see the Mayan ruins. It remains on our bucket list.

Learned a lot ! - We can only handle one excursion at a time and we didn’t want to be rushed, this was just what we needed .Th van had good AC which was very important to us . Make sure to wear good walking shoes. Our tour guide Rafael , was very pleasant and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended !

Good tour - The tour guide was very informative. My only complaint was the challenge of finding the starting location due to lack of signage. But overall it was a great day.

Family tour included 2 elderly persons with scooters - Ismael and his team were AMAZING! We did the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins excursion in Costa Maya. We are a family of 6. We had 2 elderly family members with us. From the moment we booked, Ishmael was incredibly responsive and helpful. We brought along two mobility scooters, and they handled everything with professionalism and care. They even collapsed the scooters to fit comfortably in the van. Throughout the tour, Ishmael and his team took exceptional care of us, ensuring that both my elderly mother and aunt felt included and well-cared for. Their attention to detail and genuine kindness made our experience truly memorable. Five stars all around!

Beautiful Chacchoben Mayan Ruins!! - We had a wonderful time exploring the Mayan ruins. The excursion was very informative and with the help of our guide . Rafa was incredible , he was very knowledgeable of the flora and Mayan culture . We had the chance of seeing monkeys hanging around the trees. The trip is like 45 minute drive to the ruins, with a welcome center with souvenirs and snacks for sale. We were two families with small kids and Rafa was very patient answering all the questions . I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent tour ! - Excellent tour. Our guide Rafa did a great job explaining the history of the ruins, different vegetation and monkeys . Very knowledgeable and very patient with kids asking questions. I highly recommend it.

Tours should not cause stress - Very disappointed that we booked a tour to see the ruins and butterflies with your company, Costa Maya Experiences. Unfortunately, we had to wait over an hour past the tour start time for a couple that was late and on another ship that was scheduled to depart the port 5 hours after our departure time. We made it to the Mayan ruins, but we did not get to see the butterfly farm part of the tour because of the delay. (It was not because the butterfly farm was closed; it was specifically because we ran out of time because we waited an hour for that couple.) That couple should never have been scheduled on the same tour with us, especially since they had a port departure time so much later than us. Essentially, this company penalized 12 customers who were on time and did everything we were supposed to because we ended up not being able to do half of what was advertised in the tour that we paid for. Instead, Costa Maya Experiences chose to prioritize 2 people who were late or didn't follow directions; this seems like a terrible practice for a tour company. Sadly, the guide kept talking about his son's passing and his divorce, which is not really something people on vacation want to hear about, and even though we were running late to our ship, we stopped to get pineapples and waste our time. Finally, when we arrived at port at 12:15, we had to run to our ship in order to not miss our ship that had a board time of 12:30 since the drop-off point is still a bit of a distance from the ship. I felt bad for others on our tour who were not able to run as we did, and I'm sure it caused them a lot of stress, as it did us, to have to do that. Not a good way to end an excursion tour on vacation. We will tell others never to book with this company because they are disrespectful to customers who are on time and follow directions. If you are someone who will be worried about getting back to your cruise ship on time, do not book with them, as this will only add to your worry for the day and you won't really be able to enjoy your time in Costa Maya. Also note that I am a native Spanish speaker and noticed that the guide was very rude in Spanish to his driver. I do not want anything other than to make others aware of this.

Lots of confusion!! - We were left stranded as the tour operator didn't get the needed details from the operator here on Viator. Yes, they are supposed to be two different entities. So the actual operator checked with the one taking bookings on Viator and got confirmation however they didnt have anyone available. We were asked to wait for another group and our tour was now delayed by more than an hour. I must mention the tour was great learning however if you have to wait for about an hour(could be more) for another group then its just so much inconvenient. Not to mention there was another group that was asked to wait on same pretext, so I don't think it was a coincidence. Conclusion; go for Mayan ruin tour, its fantastic, doesnt take more than an hour. The travel from costa maya to ruins is actually an hour one way. But please please avoid this operator, they are not honest.
