Ten Stars. Absolutely fantastic, beyond expectations - After a small concern about finding the starting point, I immediately felt welcome as part of the Chac Ek tour. Our group was a total of 4 people. Apparently, there are two versions of this tour; basic which just goes to the Mayan temples at Chacchoben and an enhanced tour which also visits Lake Bacalar and a local restaurant. I signed up for the basic tour and they asked if I would take the expanded tour at no additional charge. Of course!! We had a cooler of beer, water and snacks. Our tour guide, Leo, was very knowledgeable and very proud of his heritage and culture. He had many visual aids to help illustrate his points about how the Mayans lived. The van driver, Andres, drove very well on the pot-holed highway, missing all of the bumps and rough spots. When we arrived at Chacchoben, Leo took our pictures and explained what we were looking at and the significance of each temple. Our next stop was the expanded tour. We went to Lake Bacalar where Leo explained its historical and geographic significance while we were on a pontoon boat. We stopped at two locations where the water was quite shallow and warm and we jumped in and enjoyed the fresh water and a bit of tequila. Next was the stop at the local restaurant which was full of locals. We all ordered the tacos made with handmade tortillas. They had delicious pulled pork, along with shrimp, chicken and beef. We returned to the ship with plenty of time to browse the shops.

Best tour around! - Wonderful day! Moses, Leo, Andy and Ricardo will take care of all the details while you enjoy the day. Leo was a very knowledgeable tour guide and was 100 percent attentive to all the participants at all times. You won’t regret booking this tour. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Need 10 to 15 mins walk to meeting point and on air conditioning bus . We are so glad in small group of 9 . Tour guide is friendly and professional knowledge of Mayan . They also stop over the fruit place to get some super nice pineapple 🍍 . That is the best tick of trip in hot day . We back to ship early . Highly recommended 👍🏻

The best tour and guide EVER!! - Our tour guide, Joseph, was AMAZINGGGG! I cannot say enough great things about him. So knowledgeable about the area and culture. Took up to places a big tour couldn’t do. Stopped for the best fruit and sauces we’ve ever had in our lives. I’d recommend this tour over the big ones over and over.

Chac Ek tours is great. - We did this tour during a port day on a Royal Carribean Cruise. I was very impressed by the Chac Ek team. Tino and Andres were great making sure we were comfortable in the van that drove us to the site. The tour was 9 people which was nice. They provided drinks and snacks and talked about various facts about the area. Very friendly and welcoming. Once we got to the ruins they introduced us to Carlos who walked us around the site. Carlos had a great sense of humor and provided the tour group with plenty of information about Mayan culture, society, and how they worked with the local environment. He kept everyone engaed in learning. The ruins are very interesting, and Carlos was great at explaining the significance of the area. Once back in the van, Tino and Andres took us to a local produce stand for amazing pineapple and mango. Afte rthat we tasted a variety of salsas from a local maker. They made sure we got back to the ship in plenty of time so we didn't feel rushed getting back at the last minute. I'd recommend this tour for anyone looking for an adventure. The small tour size means you'll get any questions you have answered. Just be prepared for a walk in the jungle over uneven terrain.

Chacchoben Tour from Chac Ek Tours - We had a small tour of 9 people who went to the Chcachoben Ruins with Chac Ek tour company. Tino and Andres drove us to the ruins and provided drinks and snacks. Considering the tour is in the jungle I was very grateful they provided water bottles. Once we arrived they introduced us to Carlos for the ruins. Carlos was a very great tour keeping the whole group engaged with the information we learned about the Mayan people, society, and the ruins themselves. Carlos had a lot of charisma, and made the tour a lot of fun. On the way back to the port from the Ruins Tino and Andres stpped to get the tour fresh fruit like pineapple and mango which were fresh and amazing. Then we stopped to taste salsa from a little shop on the way. We made it back to our ship in plenty of time before departure. All three guides were great, and Chac Ek tours runs a great operation and have a great staff.

Best tour guide!!!! - This was a great excursion. We got off the boat, walked out of port and security and was met by a guide from the company. They escorted us to the sign in and within minutes we were put on an air conditioned bus. Our driver and tour guide were funny and friendly. They offered us refreshments and explained on the way back we would stop for some special fruits and salsa. When we arrived at the ruins our local tour guide, Carlos, met us. He was comical but very knowledgeable. We learned so much about the ruins and how the Mayans lived. He had a backpack that had photos of the area and history and he kept pulling them out like Mary Poppins. The bugs were vicious (bring spray). On the way back we did stop for fresh local fruits as promised… try the bruh papaya. Also we stopped at a local shop to sample the salsa. They provided cold waters, drinks and snacks. Overall a great time and good price. It was also nice that the tour had only 8 people and max was 14. It was small and intimate.
