Worth the money - The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The ruins were beautiful as was the countryside we saw on the ride. The only tough part was finding the meeting spot once we got into port. For advice, when you walk out of the port, keep walking straight until you see the statue of a temple in a rotary. The meeting spot it just on the right side of the temple statue across the street.

Great Experience - We booked this excursion through Viator rather than through Royal Caribbean and saved over $400 this way! We were able to have a much smaller tour group and very knowledgeable tour guide. We traveled in a nice van that fit about 14 people. It was safe and comfortable. The pick up location was very easy to find and was right outside the cruise port. Octavias taught us all about Mayan culture and the neighborhood on the drive to the ruins. Once we were there, he guided us through the sites and gave us more information about each structure. He allowed us to stop and take family photos. On the way back, we stopped for some delicious, complimentary pineapple. We were back at our port with ample time to spare. I was so nervous about the time since our boat was leaving at 1:30 and the ruins were about 50 minutes away. But this tour company had everything under control. It was a wonderful experience!

Nice excursion that didn’t take all day - We didn’t want an all-day excursion and this one was just right. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history and we learned so much from Rafael, our tour guide. We had no trouble getting back to our cruise ship on time.

Excellent tour guide - I went with my family and here the tour guide teaches you a lot about the history and very interesting facts . Beautiful easy walkable trail , it does get hot in summer but they take you in a nice air conditioned bus . I think my tour guides name was Rafael , he was super cool, made sure everyone was safe sticking together as well

A fun an educational excursion - Rafael was extremely knowledgeable and gave great mini-lectures at each of the sites as well as descriptions of the trees and their usage. An educational and fun excursion. Rafael purchased a variety of fruits for the passengers from a roadside stand on our return. The only negative was that he ran out of gas a few miles from the end of the trip but a rescue van was there within 10 minutes.

Chacchoben ruins tour - Our excursion to Chacchoben was a great day. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Gave us a very educational tour of the ruins and all about the Mayans. And the van driver carried cold waters for us the whole trip. On way back to port, guide even stopped and bought us all fresh pineapple slices to enjoy. Such a great experience! Thank you.

Not sure it was worth it. - We met the requirements of meeting within the hour of the ship allowing people to disembark, but there were two other ships in port so we ended up waiting almost an hour for the other people to arrive. It was a very long walk from the pier to the meeting point. The meeting point was not well marked and we ending up waiting in line at the wrong tour company. The driver/tour guide was very nice and informative. It was a 45 minute drive each way for not very impressive Mayan ruins. Would not do it again and not sure would recommend.

Love the ruins and our tour guide! - Ismael was the best tour guide. He made the tour engaging and we learned so much. Would recommend him over and over. The ruins are something everyone should see. The only reason for the 4 star review- our driver disappeared at the end of our trip and couldn’t be found for 30 minutes. That left our group out in the sun and heat for too long. And the trip to and from the ruins is just a van ride- there was no “tour guide” experience.
