Great experience and I'm now a converted guacamole connoisseur! - This was a fun and relaxing experience that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The chef was personable and gave us lots of tips and instruction on how to create the perfect salsa and guacamole. We enjoyed making our own dishes following his guidance and the results were delicious! I was not a guacamole eater prior to this experience ... but I think I'm converted now! Who knew that cucumber was one of the secret ingredients?! I've already gone to the grocery after we got home and purchased the ingredients so we can test our skills again. The beach was beautiful and I only wish we had a little more time to spend there after our class but our ship was leaving port early that day so we had to hurry back unfortunately. Great experience and we would do it again!

Great cultural experience - This was such an awesome and interactive experience. The chef helped with the pacing and aware of how inexperienced we were at cooking, so he helped us build confidence! We got a great meal of a Mayan style fish and loved it! The open bar was an added bonus for sure. We were a little surprised when we were the only ones in the class, so I think it'd be even more fun with a bigger group of friends. I always recommend bringing more cash than you think you need, even if you don't plan on buying souvenirs outside the port, since there wasn't strong internet on the beach.

Awesome day!!! - Pancho, Eric and Ricky were awesome! Eric taught us how to cook even better than we knew how to. We felt safe with them the whole time. They chaperone us and made us feel very comfortable. They also knew people if we had any requests, they knew who to ask and where to get things. Sara and Anna were our massage ladies, they were great. Great service!!!!

Great excursion with terrific hosts in quaint town! - What a fun excursion! Due to a storm, the class was held outside on the beach, which made it even better! The table area was covered so shady. The day we went, it was just my hubbie and me so we had a private lesson! The portions were hearty! We made salsa, guacamole and shrimp ceviche. We were served lovely drinks for 2 hours. I then got a fabulous 30 minute massage and we relaxed on the beach in chairs. All together, a great day in a nice local town! Highly recommend!

Salsa and Chips on the beach! - The people are fabulous and accommodating! While it was not the Ritz, it was fun and a beautiful beach. They are renovating their location, so go very casual!

Need to go!! - The entire experience was fantastic from the beginning! We accidentally booked at 9:00am and they were very gracious to move to 11:00am the morning of for us. Once we made it to Malahual for the cooking class Tatiana was very informative, sweet and very pleasurable to talk to. She made us feel very welcome and like we had known her for a very long time. The food we made was amazing especially the Hibiscus Tortilla that was made in the restaurant, we did order additional tacos were delicious as well. The massages right on the beach were relaxing! 10/10 would visit again!

Wonderful cooking and beach experience with very friendly host and crew! - My husband and I booked this excursion for one of the stops on a cruise, and we had a wonderful time. Eric, the chef who led the experience, was incredibly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Our experience started with relaxing 30-minute massages under an awning on the beach. We then sat at a table under an awning on the beach while Eric and his assistant provided an interactive lesson making fresh salsa and guacamole - accompanied by beverages (water, beer). Eric was charming, shared insights about the reason for certain preparation and ingredients, and remained attentive throughout. Plus, we got to eat our own creations accompanied by plenty of tortilla chips. We ended our time sitting in lounge chairs by the water (shaded and full sun options) where we could wade in a shallow shore or just relax and enjoy the beach. The one recommendation I'd make if you book is asking for clarity about the transportation - it wasn't clear if transportation from/to the Port was included (no mention of it in the confirmation, where to meet, etc), so we made our own way there by taxi (a very reasonable $4/pp). Eric arranged and paid for a taxi for our return. All in all, we both had a really nice time and would definitely recommend it.

Yummy salsa, short massage, crowded beach. - The cooking was very good with the open bar . Eddy was fun and very in tune with us as a group . We made salsa and guacamole!!!🥑 What I didn’t like : 1. “Transportation is provided” as stated in ad. and Eddie met us at ship which was really nice, but then when we arrived , taxi asked to be paid ! 2. The cooking was on a very crowded beach in the sand. 3. loved the massage but it was only 20 mins one side !!! Urggg 4. Beach too crowded to enjoy. 5. Had to find our own way back! When “transportation was provided” 6. Not worth the money sadly.

Keep looking - Was expecting a better cooking class and a massage on the beach. Instead, we got to make salsa and guacamole which anyone can do. We also got street side massages. The only reason for 3 stars is because Poncho really went out of his way to make it a good experience for us and Ana gave a fantastic massage.
