Private Beach Day - This excursion was amazing! The host Gia was just so great and was with us the entire time. When you get off the boat you have to walk all the way out of the port past the gate and continue another 1/4 mile. If you have any questions on where to meet just call the phone number listed. Gia will answer and direct you where to go. When I called she actually answered with my name and asked if we were still coming.
Once in the cab it’s a 25-30 minute ride to the beach. You are served guacamole and ceviche along with carne asada tacos and margaritas! The beach is secluded as in we were the only ones there aside from a French family. There was nobody else from either cruise ship that knew about this excursion.
They have kayaks and snorkel equipment for you to use and there are tons of conch shells all over the beach. This was just an amazing day for us to get away from the crowds of the ship. Since it was just the 2 of us we just let Gia know when we needed to be back to the port and the cab was there to get us back in plenty of time.

Must consider this, a quiet retreat! - Book this excursion! A fabulous day on this private beach. If you are looking for a quiet getaway from the crowds- this is it.
A 30 min van ride- long road leads you to a gorgeous private beach. Raul, Gia(?) and Fernando treat you right. Lunch and drinks included. Only wish we had a few more hours to enjoy it. Bring water shoes as beach entry is rocky. Some rubbish around, but look out to ocean and it is all worth it. Snorkeling and Kayak included too. Our group of 6 loved it. All to ourselves!

Absolute HEAVEN!!!!! - I will start by saying I almost didn’t want to leave a review because I don’t want anyone to know about this place lol. I want it to stay exactly as it is.
Beautiful young sweet Gio was our “guide” for the day and met us at the pyramid outside of gate 1 in the port. You do have to walk quite a ways to get out of the port and then it’s an additional maybe 1/8 of a mile to the pyramid where the tour operators wait for guests. For me the walk was no problem but my 80 yr old mother with arthritis in her knees was getting a little tired….just FYI. On your return, the taxis are allowed to drop you right at the gate but they cannot pick you up from the gate.
Gio and the taxi driver took us to the beach. As others stated, it is quite an isolated road with mangrove on either side most of the way there and was an approximate 30 min ride.
There are bathrooms and showers, kayaks for your use (included) and all you can eat guacamole, ceviche and tacos. We also had margaritas and pinacolodas, etc.. and bottled water. They sat us at our own table and you have your own lounge beach chairs also. When we went, there was a total of 6 of us on the entire beach. The water, the white sand beach, the palm trees, the endless conch shells were just simply stunning. We felt like we were in paradise. It just doesn’t get any better.
We saw iguanas and these gorgeous blue and black birds. The owners also have 3 sweet dogs that will welcome and visit you while there.
The food and drinks were good but the beach and area was so beautiful I wouldn’t have even cared what the food tasted like. I sincerely hope I can return one day and certainly if I have another Costa Maya port I will look no further than this beach!
Lastly, a few important things to note.
1. If you go on a cloudy day you will not see the same abundance of shades of blue in the water as you will in full sun but it’s gorgeous none the less.
2. The coast of Mexico receives the sargassum seaweed in the warmer months of the year which can really clutter the shoreline and look and smell very badly. Mexico tries to collect it and haul it away as much as they can but it’s a big problem on that coastline. There are websites that can update you on where and how much seaweed is on certain shores. When we went the seaweed wasn’t in bloom yet and there was none on the beach.
3. This beach is a cove and very shallow (waist deep) all the way out to the reef. You can see the water breaking over the reef. I didn’t have enough time to snorkel out there but another guest did and said he saw lots of fish and the water is just crystal clear.
4. I hate to mention this because it did not take anything away from my experience but up on the shore where the high tide had rolled in there was a line of trash all along the coast that had washed up from the sea. It’s sad what we have done to our earth. It was not on the beach itself and no where else on the sand but just so you know. I do feel like the owners could put forth a bit more effort to remove that but I don’t know if it all comes from the sea or whether some locals throw stuff out there, I hope not.
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. It was the absolute best tour on our cruise and probably one of if not the most beautiful beach area I’ve ever seen. I tried to include as many photos as I could for reference. Enjoy!!!!

Natural beauty and excellent Host! - Travelers should know that this is the property of local Mexican multigenerational family. This is not a big money company or business. They offer a natural private landscape with all you can eat and drink hand-made Mexican beef taquitos and delicious margaritas and tequila. Do not come here if you are the snobby type that is expecting luxury. This is not for you. If you value hard-working people and want a real glimpse into the heritage of these folks and can appreciate natural and rugged beauty (and the hardships they face in this underdeveloped country) then you will appreciate this experience.

Private beach away from crowds - This is a lovely private beach (only 10 people were there the day we were there) but it is pretty much someone’s beautiful backyard beach. This is NOT a resort. We’ve been to Xcaret and Xel Ha and Xavage. Those are like Disney World, not this. This is the real deal, just a day at the beach. Tables setup under a shade tree, delicious guac, chips, shrimp ceviche and beef quesadillas. Best meal on our cruise! And Gia was the sweetest hostess - gracious to bring us whatever we wanted all day! We loved collecting lots of shells and overall had a blast! The trouble is getting there and getting over the litter. Getting there: make your way through the chaotic maze that is Costa Maya port and keep walking 2 more blocks away from the port to the Replica Mayan ruin (it’s a traffic circle). Go right at the replica and there will be your name on a whiteboard and a friendly guy waiting to take you by private taxi to this beach. It’s about 30 minutes speeding (!!) down the road in Mexico - the car ride was an experience in itself! We tipped the taxi driver to come back in time for us to return to the cruise on time and he did. Thankfully a little early because he had to change a flat tire before we rode back and we were the last people in the port on the walk back through, which was much less chaotic.
Now to the water/beach/nature/litter: the beach itself could use a cleanup day. A couple palm trees laid where they last got hit by a hurricane(?) and there was floating trash in the shallow parts. We took kayaks out to the breakers and snorkeled out there for a much better experience. It was beautiful! And again, GIA is the star of the show here! That girl was such a sweetheart, made us feel like we belonged there and on that day she was working alone, no cook, no other help. Just us, Gia, and the taxi driver who came back for us, and then we had to leave paradise. It was a beautiful day! Miss it already! It is truly a private beach in Mexico 😎🌴 PS: @Gia and owners, if y’all want to host a cleanup day, we’d be down to come help you!! ☺️

Don’t be fooled by pictures! Not reality. - Difficult to find driver but biggest disappointment was the “resort” was not at all what was advertised. The photos in the activity of the destination were not at all reflective of reality. We were driven 30 minutes away to a handful of truly bare bones (bare wooden bed frame only piece of furniture in “cottage”, windows missing, peeling paint everywhere, etc) and no beach. The woman who staffed this place was lovely and truly made us feel welcome. However, we felt completely like a bait and switch based on what Viator sold us and what was there. Very very rustic with no amenties.
