Embracing the Rain: A Weekend in Mai Mahiu
As the rainy season graces the lush landscapes of Mai Mahiu, Nakuru County, the region transforms into a vibrant tapestry of greens and blues, offering a unique opportunity to embrace nature’s rhythm. This weekend, as the rain dances across the Great Rift Valley, adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike are invited to explore the hidden gems of this enchanting area.
Start your journey with a Mt. Longonot Adventure on December 1st, where the early morning mist adds a mystical touch to the already breathtaking views. This private hiking tour offers a chance to witness the majestic beauty of Mount Longonot National Park, a haven for wildlife and a paradise for hikers. As you ascend the mountain, the rain-kissed trails lead you through lush gulleys and up to the crater rim, where the panoramic views of the Rift Valley await. The optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha is a perfect way to unwind, offering sightings of the African fish eagle and playful hippos.
“Beautiful Views & Excellent Service - Stephen & Moses provided me with a wonderful experience. We got to the park early, and I found myself the only hiker on the trail! The views are stunning (wait until you get to the top, it is truly a wow moment), and I recommend hiking the whole rim if you’re up for it, about 9 miles total. Bring hiking boots and a reusable water bottle (2 litres if possible). Would recommend hiking poles for some sections that are a little steep and loose on the way down, but I survived without. Really recommend this trip for a fun day outside of Nairobi, and this group is the one to make it happen in a friendly and efficient manner. Thanks!!” - Reviewed on 2024-10-04

The hike to the crater rim is a journey through time, as the volcanic landscape tells the story of the earth’s ancient past. The rain adds a refreshing element to the trek, enhancing the vibrant colors of the flora and providing a soothing soundtrack to your adventure.
