• A Famosa Fort - A’Famosa Fort, also known simply as A’Famosa, is a famous historical site located in Melaka, Malaysia. The fort was originally constructed from laterite stones and consisted of four major towers connected by thick walls.

However, today only a small part of the fort remains standing, known as Porta de Santiago, or Santiago Gate. This gate is a well-preserved remnant of the once-mighty fort and has become an iconic symbol of Melaka’s rich history.

The fort changed hands when the Dutch captured Melaka from the Portuguese in 1641. Over the centuries, neglect and natural decay took their toll on the structure. In the 19th century, the British colonial authorities demolished most of the fort, leaving only the gate.
