- A Famosa Fort - The Castle of Santiago is a Portuguese-style building from the early 16th century and is known as the largest and strongest castle in Southeast Asia. The castle was built by the Portuguese after the occupation of Malacca in 1511. In 1607, the castle was destroyed by the Dutch, and only the gate survived. The locals regard the castle as the spiritual symbol of Malacca. The surviving ancient city gate is a western-style old building with a rough pattern carved on the gate and a long arch at the top as if wearing a hat on the head. The gunhouse on the right is preserved to this day.
- Red Square (Dutch Square) - This ancient building was built between 1641 and 1660. It has been more than 350 years old. It was once the political institution of the Dutch governor and its entourage. Now only one room still has a 17th-century carved wooden ceiling. The red bell tower and fountain on the square were built in the Victorian era and have a long history.
- Cheng Hoon Teng Temple - Cheng Hoon Teng is a premier historical monument that has survived the ravages of time. It remains the finest of Chinese temples in Malaysia – a fact underscored by an UNESCO award for outstanding architectural restoration. The temple ranks among the most significant in Southeast Asia, being central to the spiritual aspirations of the Chinese community in historic Malacca.
- Melaka Straits Mosque - Completed in 2006, the mosque’s grand archways are panelled with stained glass. When water levels are high, it appears to float. To enter, non-Muslim visitors need to dress modestly and heed the ‘no shoe’ signs. Women must bring a scarf or use a rental shawl to cover their head.
- Melaka River Cruise Jeti Taman Rempah - It is the best sightseeing option in Malacca town. This is truly a unique cruise experience where you can see the beauty of the heritage town both day and night. Sitting on the boat in comfort, you will be brought to significant landmarks at the most leisurely pace. Hence, a wonderful trip to Malacca is never a complete one without taking the Melaka River Cruise.
