A Journey to the Heart of Maleny

As someone who has dedicated much of my life to advocating for sustainable tourism, I am always on the lookout for experiences that allow us to connect with nature in a responsible way. When I heard about the Maleny Bird Aviary Adventure, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Nestled in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just an hour from Brisbane, the Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World promised a day of exploration and wonder.

The drive to Maleny was a journey in itself, winding through lush landscapes and offering glimpses of the iconic Glass House Mountains. Upon arrival, the gardens sprawled before me, a vibrant tapestry of tropical flora, waterfalls, and lakes. An Aviary Like No Other

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the aviary tour. With over 700 native and exotic birds, the aviary was a haven for bird enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The tour guide was attentive, ensuring everyone had the chance to interact with the birds, even placing them on those who were eager for a closer encounter.

The final room, home to the vibrant Macaws, was a particular favorite. Their striking colors and playful nature captivated us all, and I found myself wishing for more time in their company.
