Crete’s Best Tour & Tour Guide - On June 5th, 2025 we had the pleasure of attending the “Knossos Palace Zeus Cave Olive Oil Mill & Wine” Private Tour. We were picked up at our hotel by our tour guide, Spyros and although we were excited for our adventure we could not have imagined the amazing experience that we would receive from Spyros. We had wonderful conversations that were rich with history and his special touch and insight as a citizen of Crete. Not only did we learn a lot our journey was filled with laughter and attention to details. We had ample time in every location and nothing was rushed! This tour and specifically Spyros did not disappoint. We got a chance to interact with the locals and be a part of a day in their lives. Spyros shared a lot of stories that made us feel a part of the village. We tasted the most amazing coffee from a local woman’s shop and learned the history of her family and legacy. To say the Greek coffee was delicious was an understatement! The fresh picked strawberries from the field were tasty and Spyros heightened the experience by allowing us to try authentic Greek Yogurt with honey, walnuts and the strawberries we picked. We ate at Seli Ambelou and was blown away by the fresh food and desserts. Visiting the pottery store became a hands on project and we now have a personalized artifact to commemorate today. Today is very special as we are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary! We thought going to Knossos Palace on our first stop was breathtaking but as the tour progressed we found the beauty and love of Crete! The people are friendly and welcoming and we felt like we were part of their village! If you are ever visiting Heraklion (Crete) this tour is hands down a must and you have to request Spyros as your guide. What started as a tour ended with us making a life friend and we will treasure every moment!!!

Mike was very... - Mike was very knowledgeable and also had a great personality. He explained not only what we were seeing but also the history and even some of the mythology of Greece. He also was a very good driver and interacted with all of the people in our group, answering any questions we had. The restaurant stop for lunch was beautiful and the food was delicious. We learned a lot and enjoyed the tour and the scenery.

A day filled with fun - Our day with Spyros was one of our absolute favorite days of our honeymoon. The whole day was filled with memories we won’t forget: strawberry picking, tasting authentic Greek yogurt, drinking coffee in a small cafe and wine/raki tasting in Spyros’s home to name a few. Thank you for making our honeymoon so special! Could not recommend this trip enough.

A Truly Unforgettable Day in Crete with Spyros! - If you’re visiting Heraklion and want to experience the real Crete — beyond the tourist spots — this private tour with Spyros is an absolute must! Our day started with a visit to a local olive oil factory where we learned about the traditional process and tasted some of the freshest oil imaginable. From there, we took in some stunning scenic views and captured gorgeous photos of the Cretan countryside. Then came a delightful surprise: we picked fresh strawberries right from the field! Spyros didn’t just show us Crete — he shared it with us. He brought us to a charming local coffee house where we soaked in the atmosphere, then to a family-run pottery factory where we watched artisans at work. The highlight of the day, though, was visiting Spyros’ beautiful home. There, we enjoyed the strawberries we picked, served with real Greek yogurt and local wine — all while sitting in his lovely kitchen. To top it all off, Spyros gifted us a bottle of his own homemade olive oil, and later took us to a local taverna for an authentic Greek lunch of goat and moussaka that was absolutely delicious. We wrapped up our tour at the remarkable Knossos Palace and said our goodbyes to Spyros. Spyros is warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about his island — this tour felt more like spending the day with a friend than a guide. One of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip. Highly recommend!

A bit disappointed - Realizing that there are two cruise ports in Crete and make sure that your ship is coming into the right on for the tour. Apparently they are 2 hours apart and the tour company doesn’t verify which port your ship is coming.
