Full day in Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour at places of interest.

Kathmandu - In the morning, as per the briefing schedule, depart for a tour around Kathmandu to visit places of interest. The Kathmandu valley is rich with historical and religious monuments, temples, and monasteries, many of which are World Heritage Sites. Highlights of this sightseeing tour include the ancient Buddhist stupa of Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, which offers a unique blend of Hinduism and Buddhism and a beautiful view of Kathmandu city. Next, visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, where the Tibetan community, Sherpas, and tourists circumambulate daily. Immerse yourself in the peaceful Buddhist mantras and observe the pilgrims paying their respects to Lord Buddha. Then, visit the Hindu sacred pilgrimage site of Pashupatinath Temple, which houses several small temples, statues, and ancient heritages. Witness the open cremation at the bank of the holy Bagmati River, receive blessings from the sadhus draped in saffron and holding tridents, and feel the positivity.

After an interesting tour, the afternoon is free to relax and prepare for the Manaslu & Tsum Valley Trekking, which begins with an early morning overland drive to the Gorkha area.

Drive to Machha Khola (930 m / 3,051 ft) - 06 hrs. walk

Manaslu - After breakfast, our representative will transfer you on a scenic drive towards Mid-West Nepal on the busy main highway. The journey leads from the urban region to the lower warmer mid-hills, passing various farm villages and towns with views of snowcapped peaks. The drive takes about 7-8 hours, during which you will also witness waterfalls, the Trishuli River, and the Budi Gandaki River. The roadway is fair, with some bumpy parts. Lunch is served along the route where favorable.

On the way, you will witness the famous waterfall named Nauli Jharana. After a quick snap at Nauli Jharana, continue walking along the riverside of Budigandaki, passing short settlements like Khursani Bari and Labu Besi until reaching Machha Khola. Upon reaching Machha Khola, pass the first checkpoint for the Manaslu Conservation Area, where all logistics are handled by the guide provided by Nepal Trekking Planner. Settle into your accommodation and rest until dinner is served.

Descend into an open valley known as Yara Khola, and continue for another hour to reach the village of Jagat. Jagat is a fair-sized village after Arughat, inhabited by a mixed race of Magar, Chettris, Brahman, Bhotiya (Tibetan-looking tribes), and a few Newar merchants and shopkeepers. There is a small stop at Jagat for another MCAP checkpoint, where licenses and permits are thoroughly checked. The trail from Jagat descends to a long series of stone steps to a river. From here, the path climbs a terraced hillside to Salleri, offering distant views of Siringi Himal (7,187m). The walk follows an up-and-down trail until reaching the bridge over Buri-Gandaki.

Trek to Lokpa (2,240 m / 7,349 ft) - 05 hrs. walk

Rachen Gumba is the largest Gumba in Tsum Valley, dedicated to nuns. Around 200 nuns reside here, with the oldest nun giving blessings and teaching the younger ones according to their culture. Rachen Gompa is also on the way to Milarepa Cave, which is adorned with iron prayer flags and the Sarpu Stupa. After visiting the Gumba, continue to Nele, a small village famous for its quality and tasty potatoes. The village’s settlements consist of animal shelters on the ground floor and human housing on the upper level of the same house. Rest in your accommodation.

Trek to Mu Gompa (3,700 m / 12,139 ft) - 04 hrs.

Mu Gompa - Today’s trek heads towards Mu Gompa from Nele, taking around four hours with a lunch stop at Chho Syong. Afterwards, the journey leads to our first main destination at Mu Gompa, reaching the highest point around Mu Gompa in the first section of our adventure. As we continue, we’ll climb through arid terrain, offering views of high peaks along the way to Mu Gompa for an overnight stop. Mu Gompa is for male monks only, but trekkers can sleep inside the monastery. People in the area hunt for Yarshagumba. At Mu Gompa, you’ll have a free afternoon to explore the high valley of Tsum, which boasts traditional villages and an intriguing old Mu Gompa featuring ancient antique idols, scrolls, statues, and relics. This is one of the most important monasteries in the Tsum and Manaslu area.

The village of Upper Tsum is located on the route to the Tibet border, which is rarely frequented by foreign trekkers and adventurers.

Most of the settlements are for personal use, while some are for business. The lunch spot is located at Ghap, about 2-2.5 hours from Bihi Phedi. The path from Ghap to Namrung contains rocky terrains and traditional local Gurung and Sherpa villages. Barley and potato fields can be seen, cultivated for only one season. Wonderful, amazing, beautiful. - I really enjoyed everything about this trek! The surroundings, the itinerary and most of all: our wonderful guide Binod and porter Suman. Binod made sure we felt safe all the time, understood our needs, and we had a lot of fun. Thanks SO MUCH for making this trip unforgettable!! We will definitely return to do another trek and we will ask if Binod and Suman could join us again :). We would recommend this company to all our friends. The owner Dipak was really helpful with booking the trek, and was very responsive. Thanks all!!!

Manaslu Circuit - Booked with Trekking Planner to do the Manaslu Circuit on the recommendation of a friend who did Annapurna Base Camp with them last year and had a brilliant time. We were met at the airport and transported to our hotel where we were met by the owner Dipac who had as briefed and sorted with kit in short order. We had the same guide, Binod who is a lovely and cheerful man. Very knowledgeable, very perceptive and always ready to offer help and advice when needed. He keeps a sharp, but low key eye on his group and will slow the pace to suit all of the party members or move a little quicker if all is going well. He had plenty of excellent advice on preparing for altitude and he was thorough with the blood O2 checks. He is very well known on the circuit and was greeted cheerfully wherever he went. Paperwork and chekpoints were all handled smoothly and professionally. His support of the group at the end of each day was great too and the evening card games were a highlight for me. I learned and got thrashed at 3 new games! We had 2 excellent porters, Thaman and Aitaman who were also amazing and always ready with a cheery greeting and a smile. They handled the baggage with care and made sure it was there to greet you in your room at the end of the day. It was nice to have them join in the card games in the evening as well and made for a very included and intimate experience all round. I cannot recommend the company enough if you a thinking of visiting Nepal.

Amazing Manaslu trek! - Such an amazing trip! Trip of a lifetime and we cannot wait to go back. Nirmal and Sunil, our guide and porter were so lovely and knowledgeable. They were the only guides with an O2 meter so we felt very safe with them. They allowed us to go at our own pace and went out of their way to ensure that we saw everything that we wanted to. Can’t wait to go back.

Great, safe and flexible - Manaslu is a beautiful trek where you will be amazed by the nature each and every day! 1) Going with trekking planner was a great, relaxed and safe trip. On the trip was an extra day planned in case of sickness or extra rest day for altitude and our guide had both emergency oxygen and equipment to measure the pulse during the trek (for altitude sickness). Porters pulse were also measured to make sure everyone on the trek was safe and well. 2) Trekking Planner were very flexible and helped us store part of our luggage, arranged bus to Pokhara after the trek instead of katmandu and transported our luggage to Pokhara from Kathmandu. 🚌 3) Binud, our guide, and two porters, Udit and Kopin made the trip great! Binud shared a lot of Nepali culture with us and Udit and Kopin always met us with a smile, asked how we were etc and were even happy to play cards despite long days with trekking ☀️ 4) nice extra stuff were provided by trekking planner like sleeping bags, tshirts, caps, great warm jackets and water purifiers that worked wonders and made sure you safe plastic while having clean drinking water. 🌻 5) communication with the office were good all the way through and Deepak saw us off and wrote as soon as we returned to hear how we were ☺️ Only thing to consider is bringing an extra inner layer to the sleeping bag or good thermal wear for the night in the treks if you are freezing as quickly as we did🥶However Binud went out of his way to get us extra blankets whenever possible 🧡😇 Thank you for a great trek!

Just perfect! - I did the 14-day Manaslu Circuit with Nepal Trekking Planner and it was just perfect! Starting with the great organization by Dipak with lots of little touches such as the welcome dinner and the opportunity to borrow necessary things for the trip for free (sleeping bag, crampons,...). Followed by our fantastic guide Nitesh and our porters Tham and Pardip - big thanks to everyone! We were always well informed, there was tea time every day with biscuits and fruit for dessert, our vital signs were checked daily, but there was no shortage of fun and we got a good insight into Nepalese culture! My expectations were exceeded and I can only warmly recommend Trekking Planner to every person!!!

THE BEST YOU CAN GET - I have just completed the Manaslu circuit with my son, under the Nepal Trekking Planner company. I was a little concerned about everything, until we went and met Dipac at his office and booked our trip. There was no need to worry, everything was perfectly organised and in place, with a lovely touch of a welcome dinner in Kathmandu the night before leaving. Our guide Kale, was ever attentive, communicating with us all the way, and needing to know of any minor concerns. The food was excellent, the tea houses great, the pace always adapted as conditions changed, especially when at higher altitudes. The porters, so kind and friendly, we quickly all became a family with much warmth, which allowed this experience for us, one to be remembered forever. Now that we have finished, and are in Pokhara, it feels a bit of an anticlimax, and a bit sad as we are missing our guys. Thanks ever so much to Kale, Tham, and Pardip, and Dopac from Trekking Planner. You sure can't go wrong with them, they surely are a credit to the Nepali Trekking industry. Mark Welsh (Australia)

Incredible experience on the Manaslu Tsum Valley trek - I recently completed the Manaslu and Tsum Valley trek with Trekking Planner and I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I made. I’m a 22-year old female student and I decided to go on my own. From the beginning on it was very easy to communicate and get any information from Dipak, who was always very professional and helpful. He answered all my questions, gave me some advice and was always very honest with me. Everyone I met at the agency was very kind and welcoming. During the trek I had an absolutely incredible time. My guide Shusil and the porter Thoman both did an amazing job and were such a nice company. I always felt safe, had a lot of time for myself but never felt alone. We really adapted the trek to my pace and needs, and Shusil was always ready to help me, especially when we had to modify the itinerary when I got sick. We had a lot of fun and it really felt like a little family for these two weeks. I’m truly grateful for everyone in the agency for this unforgettable experience. Thank you so much for everything!

Go before it become too hot, Hiking in Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley - My hiking friends and I, 10 of us did a 20 days hiking in Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley in April 2022. This is one trail that is not as popular as ABC or EBC. But the scenery was not less spectacular, especially the sighting of Manaslu in clear day. was magnificient. It was a challenging hike as we have to cross six landslide sites with very narrow walking path. Staying at a Monastery and visited the Nunnery at Mu Gompa is a good way to learn how the Tibetan culture is practice here. The crossing of Larke La Pass at 5016m was another challenged to us. We were glad we made it to the summit despite few of us were sick. We were very blessed to have our guides from Biking First who looked after all of us so well and the Sherpas who supported us. When we arrived at Besisaha on the last day of the hike, we held a party to celebrate our achievement together with our guides and sherpas by roasted a whole lamb. It was a great way to end a hike with everybody truly enjoy the feast.
