Highlights
  • Meeting of Waters - The tour begins at 8 a.m. with a hotel pick-up by your guide. You’ll be taken to the port of Ceasa to board a speedboat. The first stop is Catalao, a floating village where you can see the Giant Arapaima Gigas, the largest scaled fish in the world. Feel free to touch or feed them—they’re strong but harmless.

Next, we visit the meeting of the waters, where the black waters of the Rio Negro meet the brown waters of the Solimões River without mixing. The Rio Negro, a tributary of the Amazon originating in Colombia, gets its dark color from dissolved minerals and decaying plants. In contrast, the Solimões River’s light brown color comes from sediment. The striking contrast where the two rivers meet is a must-see, so have your camera ready for some amazing photos!

  • Cachoeira do Castanho - After a day of river exploration, we head back to port and drive for an hour, crossing the Rio Negro bridge to reach the other side of Cachoeira Village. There, we’ll board a boat to a floating house where you can swim with pink river dolphins in their natural habitat. After swimming, we’ll enjoy lunch at a floating restaurant, featuring tambaqui, a local Amazonian fish.

  • Comunidade Tatuyo - Following lunch, we journey up the river by boat to the Tatuyos Indigenous Village. Here, you can learn about their traditional way of life in the Amazon and join in one of their welcome dances. After the village visit, we return by boat to the port, then drive back to Manaus, arriving at 4:00 p.m.
