Highlights
  • Moray - On this day, we will visit beautiful Inca villages with their colonial houses. During this unique and enjoyable journey, we will appreciate the treasures that this sacred land holds.

We will start the day by visiting the experimental agricultural terraces of Moray. These are a group of circular terraces that can reach depths of up to 150 meters. According to historians, these constructions served as an important Inca agricultural laboratory since their platforms were built with their respective irrigation canals, each of which had a microclimate. What stands out the most is the difference in average annual temperature between the top and bottom of the depressions, with a difference of up to 15°C.

  • Maras - Next, we will head to the colonial town of Maras, which preserves its Andean traditions and customs. We can admire its beautiful architecture and houses with colonial-style stone doors.
  • Salinas de Maras - Finally, we will visit the Salinas de Maras. These salt mines continue to be exploited to this day, where farmers work daily, just as they did in Inca times. At the end of the tour, we will return to Cuzco and drop you off at your hotel.

salt pans - Experience with Peru Grand Travel, we went to visit the salt mines, an ancient place where our ancestors already used this technique and to this day we use it in the production of salts.

Incredible and intelligent structures! - Places to be enchanted and learn a lot from those people with unique intelligence. Open-air agricultural laboratories, incredible salt mines that are still operated by the population today. I have no words to describe this emotion. We were very well supported by the guide Ilda, a person with incomparable intelligence and knowledge!

Wonderful views! - A peaceful and wonderful tour, we started the day at 7:30 and went by van to an artisanal center in Chinchero, where we had a presentation on artisanal embroidery, then we headed to Moray (stopping at a viewpoint on the way). There we were able to walk around and hear lots of interesting facts from our guide Efrain, who was very friendly and told everything with great enthusiasm. Then we went to a store where we could taste Maras salts and some delicious chocolates. Finally we arrived at the salineras where we could enjoy the view of more than 5,000 salt pools. Then we returned to Cusco at 2pm. What made the tour different was our guide always answering our questions and telling us interesting facts, and also Clever from Peru Grand Travel who arranged this tour even when we contacted him at the last minute.

Immeasurable cultural experience! - The landscapes up to the Salinas are incredible, as is the location. Understanding the formation of salty waters, how the pools are made for the formation of salt and the economic importance that the Salt Mines have for the region is sensational. Everything becomes even more impressive when you discover that the structures were inspired by those of ancient Andean people.
