- Le Fevre Overlook - The sole stop for visitors traveling from Fredonia before reaching Jacob’s Lake is the Le Fevre Overlook.
This roadside stop offers views of the red-orange bands of the Grand Staircase Escalante. Binoculars are available for a closer look at the staircase!
- Jacob Lake Inn - A wonderful spot to stretch your legs and enjoy a meal. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in their dining room, and their on-site bakery is renowned for its giant cookies.
- Jacob Lake Lookout Tower - This 80-foot Aermotor steel tower with a 7-foot by 7-foot metal cab was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and used by wildland firefighters and rangers to spot distant wildfires. It was decommissioned in the 1970s but remains open to visitors.
- North Rim Country Store - A great place to stock up on supplies, snacks, and gas before hitting the trails.
- Point Imperial Road - Point Imperial is the highest point on the North Rim, at 8,803 feet above sea level. Visitors can see Boundary Ridge and its central peak, Saddle Mountain, to the north. The Nankoweap Trail runs across the lower ridge, and views of Mount Hayden, Hancock Butte, and Alsap Butte are visible from the upper ridge.
- Vista Encantada Picnic Area - A serene viewpoint along Cape Royal Drive, Vista Encantada is a picnic area adorned with wildflowers and offers views of Nankoweap. The viewpoint overlooks the Walhalla Plateau, and on clear days, the Painted Desert may be visible to the east.
- Roosevelt Point - Another viewpoint along Cape Royal Road. Roosevelt Point is accessible via a short walk and features resting benches. Despite the high ridge, much of the scenery to the north is visible, including the farthest section of the Grand Canyon, where the Colorado River forms a narrow gorge just a mile or so across, cutting into the flat desert plain between the Vermilion and Echo Cliffs.
- Cape Final Trail - This 4-mile out-and-back trail leads to Cape Final. The trail is rated easy, meaning it’s relatively flat and shaded. The first part of the trail winds through the Ponderosa pine forest until reaching Cape Final Overlook, which offers expansive views of the North Rim. Many consider this the best overlook on the North Rim.
- Walhalla Ruins - The Walhalla Ruins, or Walhalla Glades, were once the summer home of the Basketmakers during the Pueblo period. Visitors can tour 10 rooms left behind and attend ranger-led talks and tours through the artifacts.
- Walhalla Overlook - Located just across the road from the Ruins, the Walhalla Overlook offers views of the Echo Cliffs, the Painted Desert, and the Little Colorado River Gorge.
- Angels Window - Angel’s Window Viewpoint is an excellent spot for a wide-angle photo of the stone arch. To visit, park in the pullover on the left.
- Cape Royal Road - Some of the most spectacular overlooks at the North Rim are hidden along this nine-and-a-half-mile paved road.
- Point Sublime - A moderately challenging 32.5-mile out-and-back hike.
- Widforss Trail - Named after artist Gunnar Widforss, this trail is long but flat, spanning 10 miles of relatively flat terrain.
The first part is slightly uphill through the forest, then follows the canyon rim before descending into the valley and reaching a final plateau for the best views.
- Uncle Jim Trail - The Uncle Jim Trail is a moderate 4.7-mile out-and-back trail leading to the Uncle Jim Trail Overlook and views of the canyon.
This trail has several uneven sections and is popular for guided mule rides, so be cautious!
- Bright Angel Point - The most visited viewpoint on the North Rim! Bright Angel Point is accessible behind the Lodge on the Transept Trail.
This half-mile, paved path leads to the Point, where visitors can enjoy views of three peaks named after Hindu deities: Deva Temple, Brahma Temple, and Zoroaster Temple.
