Perfect day - History, Fun and Culture - Great day with our tour guide Juan Carlos! Guatape is a must see/do if you visit Medellin. And to do it with a guide like Juan Carlos makes it all the more special. While the ascent to the top of the rock is challenging, the views make it all worthwhile! Just take your time and you will be fine! And beyond the rock, the visit to the town, and the history that Juan Carlos shared all drive and as we walked from the beginning of Colombia to modern day was fascinating and made the trip all the more special! A great day and an incredible experience!

Excellent tour - Our guide Camilo provided excellent service, beginning with the pickup from our accomodation place. He gave us a lot of interesting and useful information during the trip. He knows many local people and it helps to get good service.

Day tour to memorable stops - Highly recommend this tour. Private tours are the way to go, our guide was very patient and knowledgeable. Each stop felt at a good pace with no rush and flexible options.

La Piedra Del Peñol and Guatapé - We really enjoyed our day with Camilo, we started early at La Piedra del Peñol - which is advised as it gets very, very busy, then moved onto to Guatapé for lunch and a walk around the pretty streets. A great experience and fully recommended.

Guatapé with Camilo - The most memorable part was having Camilo as our tour guide. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. He took care of us and suggested we go earlier to beat the heavy crowds and that was a world of difference. I would recommend this excursion and Camilo to anyone who wants to visit Medellín y Guatapé.

Adventure in comfort. - My wife and I came Medellin for our 27th wedding anniversary. Took the private tour to Peñol and Guatape with Jose Carlos. He was amazing. Very knowledgeable, made the trip enjoyable, and relaxing. Car was nice and clean and comfortable . If you’re looking for a day of adventure, in comfort. Book Jose Carlos.

Great private tour - We booked a private tour and it was an amazing experience. Our guide and driver Juan Carlos provided us with lots of useful information about Colombia’s history and society and showed us around. We started at our hotel at 8am and reached the rock when there were still fewer tourists there (also, it was during the week which might be better than during weekends).

AMAZING experience!! 100% recommend! - We took this tour while staying in Medellín - it was a perfect day trip and an unforgettable experience. Diego was our tour guide, and he was awesome! He is super knowledgeable, and gave us a great overview of the history and the sights we saw. He also patiently answered every one of our (many) questions :) Guatapé and the Rock of El Peñol were beautiful. Climbing the rock takes some time, but isn't too strenuous. I would definitely recommend a private tour (like this one) instead of a group tour, since we didn't feel rushed at all when climbing El Peñol and we got to more fully enjoy the view from the top as well as our trip to Guatapé town.

Ask for Juan Carlos - We recently visited Medellín and booked a this tour due to recommendations from friends. We did not want to spend an entire day away so this shorter trip appealed to us. Booking was easy and the tour operator was very prompt and helpful during the confirmation via what’s app. Our tour guide was Juan Carlos and we could have not hoped for a better guide. He was amazing and very informative and attentive. He got us a traditional chocolate candy and water before the trip and explained a lot of the history to us during the car ride as we took in the great countryside views. Juan Carlos got us to la Piedra or the rock of El Peñol quick and gave us plenty of time to go up and enjoy the views. He then took us to Guatape and showed us a very picturesque street and side that you’d easily miss if you are with a bigger crowd. We then stopped at a very unique restaurant with lots of animals before heading back to our hotel. If you are looking for an efficient and comfortable option to see the Rock and Guatape chose this excursion and ask for Juan Carlos.

Awesome Trip to Guatape/El Penol - Juan Carlos was out guide and I can not say enough good things about him. From picking us up to drop off, he made the tour. The drive to Guatape was very nice and scenic and enough time for him to share a wealth of history about Colombia, which he continued to do throughout the day. First stop was at El Penol. He waited for us while we climbed up (with a few stops to rest) and took pictures and made our way back down. Once back down we were treated to a delicious empanada - seriously one of the best I've ever had. We then made our way to Guatape where we started at the main square and tried out a sweet treat - Oblea. Very nice! We then checked out the cathedral and walked through the city, getting more history on the dam, creation of the lake, challenges with relocating people, the city, zocalos were fascinating, etc. Early afternoon we headed back towards Medellin and stopped for lunch at a nice place with animals - lots of Llamas. I enjoyed this so much, I am planning to do it with a larger group of friends! Do it if you get the chance.
