Marrakech to Dades Valley

Atlas Mountains - Day 1: Marrakech, Ait Ben Haddou, and Dades Valley
We pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 in the morning. First, we depart for the Atlas Mountains. The drive-in Atlas Mountains take 4 hours with breathtaking scenic views. We have one break and stop to take the pictures. This route is one of the most beautiful in Morocco.
After 4 hours in the car, we stop in Berber village (Ait Ben Haddou). You have 2 hours to visit an old castle with a local guide and After we continue to your hotel, the drive takes 3 hours with one short break.

Ait Ben Haddou - Ait Ben Haddou is a historic fortified village (ksar) in the Ouarzazate province of Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its traditional earthen architecture, characterized by high walls and towers made of clay and straw, which are typical of the pre-Saharan habitat. The ksar is situated along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, making it a significant cultural and trading hub historically.

Ait Ben Haddou has also gained international fame as a popular filming location for movies and TV series, including “Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and “Game of Thrones.” Its picturesque setting and well-preserved structures offer a glimpse into Morocco’s rich heritage and traditional lifestyle. Visitors to Ait Ben Haddou can explore its narrow streets, ancient kasbahs (fortresses), and stunning views of the surrounding landscape, which make it a must-visit destination in Morocco.

Boumalne Dades - Boumalne Dades, often referred to simply as Boumalne, is a town in the Dades Valley in southeastern Morocco. It is situated in the High Atlas mountains, known for its stunning landscapes, including deep gorges, rugged terrain, and picturesque kasbahs. The Dades Gorge, one of the main attractions near Boumalne Dades, is a dramatic natural feature carved by the Dades River, offering spectacular views and popular hiking routes.

Boumalne Dades is a starting point for exploring the Dades Valley, which is often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” due to the numerous historic fortress-like structures scattered throughout the region. Visitors to Boumalne Dades can experience traditional Berber culture, local markets, and enjoy activities such as trekking, rock climbing, and photography.

Dades Valley - Gorge Todra - Merzouga

Todra River - The next day, we leave your hotel at 8:00 and drive to visit the old Berber city; the city is 1 hour away from your hotel. You get a local guide for visiting traditional Berber houses and the big valley of Todra Gorges with the river. We also stop at the restaurant for lunch. After lunchtime, we have 3 hours more to desert Merzouga.

Merzouga Desert - In Merzouga, we stop in a hotel, and you take an adventurous ride on camels. The camels with guides take you to dessert and your camp. This can take 45 minutes. In the camp, you enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner with music and dancing. After you finish your dinner and the program ends, you sleep in comfortable tents. During your stay in the desert, you have many opportunities for taking pictures in the sand dunes, watching the beautiful sunset, and experiencing stargazing at night.

Great help and very friendly. - We travelled in a group of 14 but Reda (our driver) was really helpful. He gave us tips with haggling and how to deal with relentless vendors. He greeted us with a smile and ate with us during our trip. It was very welcoming and he also chatted with us about his back ground. Overall, very nice and efficient.

Great time in the desert!! - The driver was a nice and funny guy. He showed us nice spots and tried to give us a nice experience as well as giving us tips where to buy stuff (such as water which was expensive in the desert camps). I also felt safe while driving with him. All in all a great experience.

Experience to do! - It has been the best experience ever of my entire life!! Reda, offered us the most beautiful experience an human could ever experience, we started our tour from Fez, we stopped in different cities on the way to the desert and we had the good experience of taking pictures to monkeys! They offer you a ride on the camels as soon as you get to the desert and an another one in the morning before starting your trip too your destination. Tents in the desert are amazing, with clean bedsheets and towels and especially private bathrooms! After dinner, people who work there start turning the campfire on and start playing the traditional music, they let you enjoy the night in the way you prefer to, we danced and sang so much! The second day you will start your trip to the destination you choose (Fez or Marrakech), they assign you to an hotel, our hotel got the swimming pool and trust me, with 40 degrees Celsius that was the best thing ever. Guys I can only say: enjoy life, this is going to be the best way to open your mind and to know what people do for living in the desert!

Worth a visit ❤ - It was a unique experience. I started from Fez up to the merzouga where there was a group of very nice young people waiting for us and a fabulous location. The rooms really nice. I was amazed because I expected much less. Hearty dinner and party all night with other tourists and Rida's group. Wake up tomorrow to see the sunrise, great breakfast and return to the road for departure to Ourzazate for the second night in a very nice hotel with swimming pool to relax after the many hours of travel. Fantastic camels, I recommend everything. ❤

Unforgettable trip - Absolutely incredible, landscapes were amazing, people were so nice with some few exceptions. Camel ride was so nice but in the night in the Sahara we did not have the fire music and dance so that was not accomplished and also the breakfast in the camping wasn’t even a complete breakfast and the camping was so hot inside making it hard to sleep. Anyway the service worth it, an experience that you can not miss in your life!
