Wonderful people and country. Don’t expect luxury, be relaxed, open to the experience. Make sure you see the stars - Picked up promptly from Marrakesh by the driver with a comfortable van. He was an excellent driver but he didn’t introduce himself or tell us where he was going. However, he stopped every 2 hrs for breaks. We went to UNESCO villages, Berber villages, gorges, rivers, culminating with the camel ride through the Sahara dunes to our camp. Again, communication a problem but we followed our noses about 930 pm to a lovely dinner. A camp fire and drumming was next for those who desired it. At the different sites we were met by excellent local guides who showed us around. The camels were placid, the saddles are uncomfortable but it’s an awesome experience. The first hotel was adequate and food plain but we are supporting locals and seeing cooperative carpet making. A trip is best when you relax, enjoy and appreciate everything. Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s not luxurious but it was very good. We were safe, people were extremely kind, don’t forget to tip 3 euros for your guides and drivers. Take small change with you and a 3 day back pack. Leave your suitcase on the bus. The third day is a long drive back to Marrakesh but again we stopped for snack, lunch, toilets and you can upload your photos, email, read, converse, snooze. Remember to enjoy the experience and keep your eyes open for interesting sites. Chat to the guides and you will learn much.
