MARRAKECH - AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE - SKOURA
Ait Ben Haddou - The journey begins with a departure from Marrakech at 7:00 am. The destination is the historic Ait Ben Haddou, reached via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Travelers will cross the High Atlas Mountains, reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes until arriving at the Kasbah of Aït-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A local guide will lead a tour of this ancient site, followed by lunch nearby.
The Kasbah consists of several small fortresses, or kasbahs, each reaching up to ten meters in height. While most residents now live in a modern village across the river, eight families still reside in the old Kasbah. Visiting this site feels like stepping onto a movie set, as it has been the filming location for famous films such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, and Prince of Persia.
Kasbah Amridil - After lunch, the journey continues to Skoura Valley, driving through the oasis to visit the 17th-century Amridil Kasbah with a local guide.
Amridil Kasbah has remained largely unchanged since its construction over 300 years ago. The family who originally built the Kasbah still owns it and is responsible for its maintenance and renovations. Visitors can explore tools used in the area for generations, some of which are still in use today in southern Morocco.
Life in the kasbah remains much the same. After experiencing the traditional lifestyle, visitors can ascend the stairs to the top of the fortification for a breathtaking view of the surrounding Skoura palm groves.
Skoura - The day concludes at a tranquil Riad with a lovely balcony, where guests can enjoy a welcome mint tea while watching the sunset.
SKOURA - TODGHA & OASIS GORGE - MERZOUGA
Todra River - After breakfast, the journey to Merzouga continues, offering a day filled with diverse landscapes.
The morning’s highlight is the Grand Canyon area of Todgha Gorge, one of Morocco’s most renowned natural landscapes. A brief 30-minute walk is planned, followed by lunch nearby.
Erfoud - Post-lunch, the drive to Merzouga resumes, with a stop to view ancient tunnels in the desert, constructed in the 14th century to capture water from underground rivers, before continuing to Erfoud, the last city before Merzouga.
Merzouga Desert - Arrival in Merzouga is before nightfall, where camels await to take guests on a two-hour journey through the desert dunes to the camp. Dinner is served in a tent under the stars, followed by a gathering around a bonfire with local music.
MERZOUGA - HIGH ATLAS - MARRAKECH
Ouarzazate - After breakfast, the program continues with a departure from Merzouga, heading directly to Ouarzazate.
Marrakech - Lunch is enjoyed in Ouarzazate, and the journey proceeds in the afternoon, reaching Marrakech, the Red City, at approximately 5:30 pm.
