Rabat - Depart from Marrakech in a Toyota, jeep, or luxury minibus and journey to Casablanca, the economic and business center of Morocco. Upon arrival, visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, the largest religious site in the country. The tour continues to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Here, explore Méchouar, the walls surrounding the Royal Palace, followed by the Kasbah of the Udayas and the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V. You will then be taken to your hotel in Rabat.
Rabat - Meknes - Fez
Fes - After breakfast, return to the vehicle and relax as you travel to Meknes, one of Morocco’s key imperial cities. This city boasts luxurious palaces and beautiful mosques, as well as one of the most renowned souks. You will then visit the Roman Ruins of Volubilis. Founded in the third century BC, Volubilis was a significant settlement of the Roman Empire. In the evening, you will head to Fez, where you will spend the night.
Fez
Fes - On the third day, spend the entire day exploring the captivating city of Fez with an English-speaking professional guide. This is the oldest imperial city in Morocco, established in the 8th century by Idris II of Morocco. You will also have the chance to discover the city at night, as you will spend your third night here.
Fes - Arzou - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga
Merzouga - Set off early and head south. The first stop of the day will be Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco. Then, as you drive through the cedar forests of Arzou, keep an eye out for the Berber apes that inhabit these trees. Cross the Ziz Valley and its dramatic gorges, visiting the towns of Midelt and Erfoud. From Erfoud, take a dirt road to the desert until you reach the small town of Merzouga, in southeastern Morocco. You will spend the night in a hotel on the edge of the sand dunes.
Merzouga - Erg Chebbi
Merzouga - Spend a full day exploring the desert. Tour the endless dune fields in your 4x4, visit the nomadic settlements, marvel at several oases, and admire the dunes of Erg Chebbi, which stretch 50 kilometers from north to south. Nestled in the dunes is the charming village of Khamlia, famous for the Gnawa music group that you will also visit. As the sun sets, ride a camel and enjoy a gentle journey to the Berber desert camp, where you will have a traditional meal and spend the night.
Merzouga - Todgha and Dades Gorges
Dades Gorges - After rising early to witness an unforgettable sunrise, your camel will take you back to your hotel, where you will have breakfast and a refreshing shower (depending on the type of camp, your breakfast and shower may be before the camel ride). On day 6, visit the Todgha Gorges, one of the most spectacular canyons in the world. The day trip concludes in the Dades Valley.
Gorges of Dadès - Skoura - Ouarzazate
Ouarzazate - After breakfast, head to the Gorge of Dadès before taking the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs through the Valley of the Roses, where you will have time to explore the area at your own pace. The next stop will be at the palm grove of Skoura, home of the Kasbah Amridil. Then proceed to Ouarzazate, where you will visit Taourirt Kasbah and spend the night.
Ouarzazate - Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech
Marrakech - On the final day, marvel at the Ksar of Ait Ben-Haddou, a stunning example of earthen buildings surrounded by a defensive wall, typical of southern Morocco. Get in your car for the last leg of the journey. Cross the Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass, 2,260 meters high. Your 8-day trip will conclude in Marrakech.
