- Imlil - The Atlas Mountains and Imlil offer some of the most breathtaking day trips from Marrakech, perfect for those looking to escape the city and experience the authentic, rural side of Morocco. Our journey begins at 9 AM from Marrakech in a 4WD vehicle or minivan, heading south through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the village of Asni, known for its bustling weekly market every Saturday. We then proceed to Imlil, traversing a lush, green valley that remains vibrant even during the peak of summer. Imlil, a quaint village nestled at the base of Morocco’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal, serves as a hub for hiring mountain guides and mules. Its strategic location and connections to various Berber villages make it a popular starting point for treks and hikes up Mount Toubkal. Upon arriving in Imlil, we will leave our vehicle and meet our guide to embark on a walking and hiking tour towards the Berber village of Aroumd. Situated in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, Aroumd is the main trailhead with numerous streams and paths leading in all directions. We will enjoy lunch in a Berber house in either Aroumd or Tamatert before driving back to Marrakech.
