- Marrakech - Your day trip to the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech begins with meeting your 4x4 driver/guide at your hotel or riad. You’ll head south of the city, driving through the Haouz plains to reach the Agafay desert. From there, enjoy an off-the-beaten-path drive to the lake of Lalla Takerkoust, where you’ll stop to take in the view and snap some photos.
- Agafay - Next, you have the option of a 30-minute camel ride at the slopes of the Atlas Mountains before continuing your journey through the narrow mountain roads to Kik Plateau, admiring the scattered Berber villages along the way.
- Atlas Mountains - Your adventure continues through rugged terrains to the village of Imlil. Here, you’ll leave the 4x4 behind and embark on a moderate one-hour hike to ‘Aroumd,’ a small Berber village in the heart of Toubkal National Park. This village is renowned for its stunning views of Toubkal Mountain, the highest peak in North Africa (4,167 m / 13,671 ft). Don’t miss the small waterfall along the way, which your local guide will point out.
- Aroumd - After enjoying a delicious Berber Tagine lunch served by a host family in Aroumd Village, you’ll descend back to Imlil and have a smooth ride back to Marrakech through Tahennaout, the main town in the region, known for its weekly market every Tuesday.
- Marrakech - Your day trip to the Atlas Mountains concludes around 16:00 with a drop-off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech.

Just an hour and a half ride from colorful Marrakech, The Atlas mountains are like a different world with the cool, fresh mountain air. We will tell you all about the area with insights and interesting facts as we guide you through the gorgeous landscapes. You’ll see the red city walls of Marrakech give way to plains, different green valleys, gorges, rivers, and waterfalls. You will have a chance to enjoy many stops throughout our tour, including a visit to an original Berber house to learn about their ancient traditions. This Amazigh family will make a welcoming typical mint tea showing you how to make it according to their traditions. Finally, we’ll get to the last village where you will take a guided walk along the beautiful trails and villages to reach the spectacular waterfall.
Feast on a delicious lunch full of flavor with a local family, and after we’ll walk for half an hour back to the car and return to Marrakesh around 5 pm.
