Highlights
  • 29 Rue Riad Laarous - In this bicycle tour, our non profit project Pikala, gives you the experience to discover Marrakech on a bicycle. Your bicycle guides will be local young Moroccans who are trained by pikala and will introduce you to the Moroccan daily life and give you more explanation about growing up in Morocco, the importance of the family and how to deal with religion and modernisation.

You will cycle through different neighbourhoods of Marrakech like the historical city centre ‘Medina’ and the new town ‘Gueliz’. On our way we will pass some of the highlights of the city like the Koutoubia, the Kasbah and the Agdal gardens, but even more important is to take you to parts of the city where you wouldn’t normally come.
You will visit a local public bakery and a old traditional bathhouse called the Hammam. Juice and sweets are included in the tour at the very special cross cultural “cafe clock”, visit the enormous second hand market and finish with a visit the tumb of one of the seven Saints of Marrakech.

Please cycle with us and support our social project!

It’s healthy, fun and a unique experience!

Additional Information

As the originator of the socially-driven educational project Pikala, which is non-profit, I hail from the Netherlands. Our mission is to harness the power of cycling to offer complimentary education and avenues for Moroccan young people to become either cycle guides or bike mechanics. Despite Morocco’s youthful demographic, it’s uncommon to interact with them as a tourist in the country. To address this, I’ve equipped gifted youngsters to personally acquaint visitors with Moroccan culture and deliver narratives from this emerging Moroccan generation.

Must do! - We were absolutely thrilled with this tour. There were only 5 of us and we got around really well. The tour was very interesting and Mohammed gave us good information about the planned route, next stops, etc. He was also able to pass on a lot of knowledge about the city to us. Definitely recommend it!

Beautiful adventure tour - What a nice way to discover the city, nice welcome, good bikes and nice stops in various places. The guide Simo told interesting stories about the places we were, his life in Morocco and was really interested in our stories. Completely worth the money. Afterwards we had a drink and cookies in the beautiful cafe of the organizer, where we played a game of uno with Simo. Cycling through the city and Medina in particular looks challenging, but with the right guide and some (Dutch) cycling experience it is actually quite simple

Like being part of a movie - Cycling through the small streets of Marrakech feels like being part of a movie. The guide was very good and the modern bikes were easy to ride. Best way to see a lot in a few hours en really feel like being a part of the hectic city center. 😀

Amazing tour. 5 stars, recommned to everyone. - Amaaazing. Pikala tour is a tremendous and amazing experience. We came from portugal and United States to visit marrakech and we both loved the tour with Zahouir. He is very knowledgeable and will take you though the town while telling you the history. We went through all the local spots and we were able tk take pictures and see how to make local bread, food, tiles, and even got to see some of their spiritual and cultural traditions. I would recommend doing this trip the first day to get to know the city, customs and how to get around. If you are wondering if 2.5h of cycling is a lot, don't worry, it's pretty simple and not tough. Thank you so much

This was a great way to... - This was a great way to see the city. I loved that the tour was not about the places and fancy places but the places for everyday people, the bakery, hammam, zellij workshop etc. Our guide Zouhair was fun and pleasant to talk to, and very knowledgeable and informative.

The bike tour via Pikala was an excellent choice. - The bike tour via Pikala was an excellent choice. Friendly people, good bikes and an excellent guide. You can also rent a bicycle there yourself. By bike you can see Marrakech in a different way. Kamal took us (a couple and me) to a public oven, a shelter for blind people and to parts of the medina that you would normally not visit. The social aspect of Pikala completes the picture as far as I'm concerned.

Excellent way to orientate yourself in this fantastic city - Great tour around Marrakech with Mo. We thought the best way to orientate ourselves to a new city was a cycle tour. It was a great way to see the different sides of Marrakech from industrial to community living and culture. Mo the guide was very well informed and gave some excellent insights into Moroccan life, religion, language and structure of the city. We had two younger girls with us (11 & 14) and they loved the tour.

Perfect way to explore Marrakech - This is exactly what you want. Take a beautiful bike tour through Marrakech with a local. Good stories about life in the city and the country, beautiful locations you pass and tasty snacks along the way. Cycling is the perfect way to explore any city, the people of Pikala make it a little more perfect. Recommended! For families with children: the founder is Dutch and knows exactly what we want from a bicycle. Various types of bicycle seats and tandems are available. Any age can be served perfectly.
