A bucket list activity - absolutely wonderful. - An absolute must in Marrakech! Worth every penny !
I really don’t like heights or flying in a plane but I felt so incredibly at ease - the Pilot was fantastic and I’d specifically read reviews about how good she was! We were picked up at 5am, within a 4 minute walk to our hotel, and got going. After around 35 minutes in the van, we arrived - be warned the drive is off road and incredibly bumpy! We were immediately greeted by fresh Pain au chocolat, coffee, tea and orange juice. The team were lovely. Shortly after, we set off towards where the balloons were and we all got to watch them being set up - this was fantastic. It was incredibly picturesque as all the other ballooning companies were setting off at the same time.
We were split into two groups and got into the baskets. Please note, it is not the easiest to get into however the staff are lovely and on hand to assist. Once in, we had to crouch down for takeoff and we were off!!
I cannot physically recommend this enough, it was beautifully serene and we had some lovely music in the background. It was a lady on our trip’s birthday and so they played happy birthday for her - if there is a specific occasion just let the pilot know and she will play some music for you!
We watched the sun rise as we gently soared above the Atlas Mountains. It was incredible.
Landing was smooth and again, the team were fantastic at assisting us getting out.
When we arrived back to the seating area, a traditional breakfast awaited. It was delicious and filling. We had our tea constantly topped up.
Overall, a fabulous experience however some things to note:
- you do not receive pick up details until around 8:30/9pm the night before. Be warned that even if you contact them yourself, you won’t hear from them until the night before. I was worried it was a dodgy company however a quick read of the reviews (who say the same as I) reassured me.
- you also do not receive a flight certificate

Hot air balloon - Brilliant from start to finish. Pick up was on time. Was lovely watching the balloons blow up. Our pilot was a lady who was really funny. I was worried about getting in and out as I’m 64 and had a broken ankle which luckily had healed in time but I was a bit worried but the young lads that help out with the balloons was great any getting me in and out !!! Would recommend this if you are travelling to Marrakesh. Brilliant firm lovely people breakfast wonderful great experience thank you all so much xx

Marrakesh Hot Air Balloon Trip - Poor communication prior to flight (booking stated that we needed to contact the provide the day bag per the trip to confirm pick up details, but they did not respond to this, and it also took several attempts to get someone to answer on the phone). Eventually told they’d message us around 21:30 to tell us if trip on/off (weather) and advise pick up time. Would have been far better to just state this at time of booking.
Other than this, the trip itself ran like clockwork - we really enjoyed it and the pilot was a really nice guy.
Would definitely recommend.

Disappointing - It was an enjoyable if slightly disappointing experience. We contacted the supplier that day before as requested but were told that the decision as to whether the experience would take place ( or not) would be decided upon late in the evening.
WE were given the option of two times. 4.30 am or 6.30 am. We went with 6.30 (for sunrise) we were texted at 20.00 to confirm the flight the following day and informed pick up at 7.10 . This was not what we had asked for and therefore sunrise was missed. The pick up point was not as booked. We had to walk to a pick up point in a market place rather than be picked up from our Riad. The driver was late for pick up and we had to text to find out where he was, there no response to our message. Although he did eventually turn up 10 minutes late.
The transportation was very questionable. If you are a person of larger stature be mindful of being squashed into a small seat at the front.
The drive to the hot balloon location took considerably longer than the drive back. Feel it was due to the average speed of 45km/h there and 60 km/h on the way back. A bit concerning were passengers were not required to wear seat belts ( although these were provided).
There were no refreshments before the flight, this was provided after the fight at the Berber breakfast.
The flight whilst being enjoyable (the pilot was very good and engaging) did not travel over Marrakech. At one point we could see the Atlas mountains but the balloon only moved in a circular formation over a dirt field for 40 minutes. No certificate of flight was given to us.
Following this we were then driven to a Berber tent and provided with a breakfast.
The venue for this was truly lovely and authentic experience. The hostess worked very hard and provided ample Berber delicious treats. We were picked up at 7.20 am arrived at location at 8.10. In balloon by 8.20 out of balloon and at Berber breakfast 9.10.Arrived back in Marrakech by 10.25. We paid over £100 for each ticket.
Was it a worthwhile trip , unfortunately no .....

Excellent pilot, too short in the ballon - Experiencing activity with one of my teenagers
It was worth it watching my daughter take it all in. The flight was very short and did not go very high . Views were ok but have had a lot better
Driver was on his phone both ways of the journey and nearly knocked a motorbike and passengers over

Lovely views shame about the local tour operator & driver attitude - Positives: the views are amazing; the balloon flight captain was professional and the whole balloon inflation and deflation and actual flying experience was executed professionally
Negatives: I received a call the day before our excursion from a very rude and grumpy local Tour operator who had clearly gotten off the wrong side of the bed so to speak - she was passive agressive and spoke in a very impolite manner - I explained that I had booked his Viator on the proviso that pick up be from my hotel (which was on the list) at a certain time but she was dismissive.
I stood my ground however and had to justify myself as to why they ought to pick up from my hotel when I’m the paying customer!
In any case the following day an exceptionally grumpy driver rocked up 20 minutes later than expected and not in the agreed pick up location- this was unprofessional to say the least - not impressed to say the least

Should have been great but wasn’t - not good value for money! - The most memorable part was how short the balloon ride was. Please do not be duped in to taking this trip. We ended up away from our hotel for over 5 hours and hot air balloon ride was only 20 mins yet others were up far longer. Balloon was ripped in places, we were shouted at not to move and there was no certificate. Communication before trip was non existent and we tried to contact company and viator to no avail. Only getting told at 21:30 the night before that we were getting picked up at 04:40.
