Great beyond expectations - This was the most remarkable way to get acquainted with Marrakech on the first day in the city. Our tour was customized to what we wanted to see and we appreciated all the details and patience with our many questions. This is worth your time and money to invest in this experience. The medina is overwhelming at first glance, but once we were able to trek through the many pathways with the tour, we felt brave enough that we could be successful at navigating this beautiful city on our own!

Discovering Marrakesh - We were very satisfied with the guided tour, €20 each for a private tour for three people was the best option I could find. Furthermore, in order to show us everything that was on the program, the guide accompanied us through the streets of the medina for almost 4 and a half hours at a fast pace but with a break in a herbalist's shop and always time for photos. We visited: Bahia palace, the Koranic school, the Marrakech museum, the mosque (from outside), the souks and specifically the area where the artisans work, which without a guide I don't think we would have found in the labyrinth of streets, ending in the square Jema el fna. Our guide spoke Italian perfectly and not only told us the history of the palaces we visited and of Morocco, but also made us discover the customs and life of this country and Marrakesh. I didn't find Marrakech dangerous but I strongly suggest the guide to have the opportunity to visit the medina as best as possible without getting lost in its labyrinth of streets and above all to not leave in a box and return in a trunk!

Abdul's Medina guided tour - Abdul met us at our hotel as agreed and initially spoke to us telling us what we would see. He led us around the Medina taking us to all the main historic sites and giving us some detail that we wouldn't have found ourselves. Abdul was also very caring/understanding, paying for our entrance to sites as we had not yet got any local currency. Indeed he found us an ATM during the tour so we were able to withdraw cash and pay him back plus a well earned tip for his time. One of our party had a sore leg near the end of the tour so he took us close to our hotel, giving her clear guidance so that she could find our way back. At the end of the tour he took us to a carpet shop and a spice shop, both of which were interesting and not high sales pitches. Abdul said he had only been learning English for 5 months but his grip of the language was of a very high standard indeed. I can only highly recommend Abdul as a tour guide, even though after just over 3 hours we still hadn't got our bearings of the Medina!

Medina tour - Tour guide picked us up at our hotel via cab. We then spent many hours walking around the Medina. We were a bit taken a back when our tour guide brought us into the palace and our admission wasn't included in the tour price. Our tour guide wanted us to go into then Islamic school but we didn't want to pay to enter so we skipped it. Be ware that tour guide will take you to an argon pharmacy and a few other places to buy things, I believe they must get a portion of the commission so don't feel obliged to purchase as most stuff could Prob be purchased cheaper elsewhere. We were led to a lunch place at the end of our tour and the food was horrible.
