Jardin Majorelle - Begin the journey with a significant visit to the Botanical Garden and artist’s landscape garden in Marrakech. Created by the French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923, it opened to the public in 1947. The garden features a Cubist villa designed by French architect Paul Sinoir in the 1930s. Nearby, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum offers a well-curated experience showcasing YSL’s brilliance and attention to detail. The gift shop provides a great selection of items at various price points. Together with Jardin Majorelle, it is a perfect highlight of Marrakech.
-
Koutoubia Mosque - Next, drive through the walls of the old town, known as the Medina, to the Koutoubia Mosque. Founded in 1147, it is Marrakech’s largest mosque and a city landmark, inspiring structures like the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower of Rabat. The guide will provide an informative tour here.
-
Bab Agnaou - Continue driving by the imperial Kasbah with a stop at the famous gate, Bab Agnaou. It is one of the 19 gates allowing entry into the ramparts of Marrakech. This gate, dating from the Almohad Berber period in the 12th century, served as an entrance to the administrative and military complex of the Caliphal Kasbah, the citadel of power, from the south of the city. Flanked by two cannons, it is one of Marrakech’s most impressive gates.
-
Bahia Palace - Arrive at an important monument: Bahia Palace, by driving through the Jewish quarter. The Bahia, meaning “The Beautiful,” is an 8000-square-meter extravagance of intricate marquetry, plasterwork, and zouak (painted wood), and is certainly one of Marrakesh’s most stunning sights. Built by Grand Vizier Si Moussa in the 1860s, the salons of both the Petit Riad and Grand Riad feature intricate marquetry and zouak ceilings, but the Cour d’Honneur, a grand courtyard with its 1500-square-meter floor of Italian Carrara marble, is the highlight. Despite the vast area on display, only a portion of the palace’s eight hectares and 150 rooms is open to the public. Its grand spaces sometimes host important cultural events.
-
Souk Semmarine - After visiting Bahia Palace, walk through the Semmarine Souks to explore and discover the colorful markets or “Souks.” Follow the guide to explore the markets in Marrakech’s Medina, where Arab and Berber cultures burst with color, noise, and originality. Smell spices, taste olives, touch leather goods, and buy local handicrafts.
-
Jemaa el-Fnaa - After navigating the labyrinth of the Souks, arrive at the famous square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, where snake charmers, storytellers, acrobats, and street vendors bring the old walled city to life. In the evening, it becomes a hub for food, with small open-air restaurants. This is a major tourist attraction in Marrakech. Then return to the accommodation or meeting point.
