ZAGORA – MERZOUGA
Merzouga - Before heading to Erfoud, explore the surroundings of Zagora, the birthplace of the Saadians, particularly the village of Tamgroute, a spiritual hub and former Islamic university with a library housing valuable medieval manuscripts. Proceed to Erfoud, stopping in Tazzarine and Alnif for lunch. In the afternoon, travel through the Tafilalet valley, the historic origin of the Alaouite dynasty that has ruled Morocco for three centuries, to Rissani, the legendary Sijilmassa, now renowned for its date market. Arrive in Merzouga, where a camel ride will take you to the bivouac in the dunes for dinner and an overnight stay in Berber tents or under the stars.
