Highlights
  • Barataria Preserve - Drive along the Mississippi River to reach your destination in the swamps. This tour is a combination of both a swamp tour and an airboat ride. Your tour guide will stop on your journey to allow for photos and alligator encounters! This airboat is a larger capacity vessel with the ability to seat up to 16 passengers. This is perfect for larger groups. The seating on your airboat is stadium style seating, so anyone seated in front of you will not be obstructing your view.

Each airboat tour is unique and unscripted, you never know what’s going to be waiting for your group behind the next turn. Airboats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine, bringing speeds of your boat up to 25 miles an hour. Airboats are propelled by a large fan that blow air behind the vessel. On this tour, you will reach places and visit areas which normal boats and vehicles are unable to access.

Every boat was the "best"! - We had a large group book this trip (42 of us). The company easily fit us onto three of their large boats (14 on each). Throughout the entire tour, I was convinced our boat was having the "best" tour. When we all got back from seeing multiple alligators, learning about the history of the swamp and river system, and getting to hold a baby alligator, I was thoroughly impressed that all three boats felt they had the "best" experience. Each boat got to see alligators up close and hold a baby alligator as well. Each tour guide was phenomenal and got everyone excited. Even though we were in New Orleans for a national youth conference, many in our group said that the highlight of our entire trip was THIS swamp boat tour.

Loved the airboat! - Dewey was a great guide for the airboat swamp tour! The airboat is amazing fun and cools you off in the heat of summer. We saw at least 10 gators—one over 12 feet long and a tiny baby. Plus lots of birds and a raccoon. Definitely recommend!

Worth it! - Absolutely worth it! With our guide Kenny we had a lot of fun and he told us a lot of information about the wildlife in the swamps, especially of course about the aligators. We were traveling 1.5 hours, through the narrow waterways even at a leisurely pace, to see as many animals as possible.

A Great Experience! - Had an awesome time out on the airboat! Friendly staff from start to finish. Saw lots of gators and Rocket the Raccoon. Ear protection is offered and highly suggested. Highly recommend spending the time and money for this.

Fell in love with aligators - Highly recommend at this time of the year. This was my second visit since 2019 and I brought my coworkers with me this time as we were in town for a conference. Ernie was very informative and you could feel how much he loved and respected the environment and the gaters! We did happen to be here during mating season so not too many older males but luckily we did get to see one and a whole bunch of younger alligators. Captain Ernie has a biology background and shared some new facts with us and was kind enough to take questions regarding how alligators mate 🤣 This is a thrill ride and can be noisy but they have earphones you can use to help drown out the noise. Wear your sunscreen, hate, and shades. Bring a water! Worth the trip!

Airboat swamp tour with Ian! - So much fun on the airboat swamp tour today! Our guide Ian was super fun and very knowledgeable. We saw lots of gators and beautiful swamp areas. Got or hold a baby gator and learned a lot about them and their habitat. Would recommend for sure. Hold your hate and ladies out your long hair in a pony tail. It’s windy!!
