Drive From Marsa Alam To Luxor And Visit Luxor East Bank

Marsa Alam - You will be picked up from your hotel in Marsa Alam and then head to Luxor, arriving in approximately 4 hours.

Temple of Karnak - Upon arrival in Luxor, you will visit the largest temple ever built, Karnak Temple, which was constructed over 2000 years and covers about 63 acres. Enjoy taking photos among its massive pillars and obelisks.

Luxor Museum - Next, you will be transferred to Luxor Museum, which opened in 1975. This two-story building houses items such as grave goods from the tomb of the 18th dynasty pharaoh Tutankhamun (KV 62) and a collection of 26 New Kingdom statues found buried in the Luxor statue cache near Luxor Temple in 1989. The mummies of two pharaohs, Ahmose and Ramses I, are also on display.

Luxor Temple - You will then visit Luxor Temple on the East Bank of Luxor, where ancient Egyptian, Christian, and Islamic features are exhibited. Afterward, check in at your hotel.

Luxor West Bank Tour And Drive back to Marsa Alam

Valley of the Kings - After breakfast and checking out, start your day by visiting the Valley of the Kings on the west bank, where New Kingdom pharaohs carved their tombs into the mountains to hide their treasures and protect their mummies.

Howard Carter House - Next, visit the domed mud-brick house where Howard Carter lived during his search for Tutankhamun’s tomb. Surrounded by a garden on a barren slope above the road from Deir Al Bahari to the Valley of the Kings, the house has been restored and decorated with pictures and tools from the excavations. An exact replica of Tutankhamun’s burial chamber has been constructed on the edge of the garden, along with an exhibition related to the tomb’s discovery.

Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Then, visit the mortuary temple of the famous Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari. Discover her beautiful temple and the intriguing story of her and her nephew.

Art Valley Alabaster Factory - Afterward, visit the alabaster factory where people still bring stones from the quarry and craft them into various handmade items, just like the ancient Egyptians did.

Valley of the Nobles - Next, head to the Valley of the Nobles, which contains the tombs of nobles in Luxor, such as Ramose, Senniffer, and Menna, among others. There are over 400 Theban noble tombs marked by numbers, with beautiful scenes carved inside. These tombs are nestled in the foothills opposite the Ramesseum.

Ramesseum (Mortuary Temple of Ramses II) - Proceed to the Ramesseum Temple, considered the memorial (or mortuary) temple of Pharaoh Ramses II. Located in the Theban Necropolis in Upper Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River, across from modern Luxor, the design of Ramesses’s mortuary temple follows the standard canons of New Kingdom temple architecture.

Valley of the Queens - Then, visit the Valley of the Queens, where the wives and sons of pharaohs were buried. Known in ancient times as Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning ‘the place of beauty,’ there are more than 90 known tombs, usually consisting of an entrance passage, a few short halls, and a sarcophagus chamber. You will visit three tombs of queens and their sons, such as the tombs of Amun-Khepshef, Khaem-Waset, and Queen Tyti, wife of King Ramses III. The most notable tomb is that of Nefertari, the favorite queen of Ramses II.

Habiba Hand Weaving - Next, visit Habiba for hand weaving, specializing in hand-woven scarves made from Egyptian cotton, linen, and wool. Local hand weavers also sell machine-made scarves and shawls made from cotton and cotton blends. Located in a rural setting on the west bank of Luxor with views of the nobles’ tombs, women still work here making handmade cloth from pure cotton, giving you the experience of how they use traditional hand-made machines.

Colossi of Memnon - Finally, stop for a photo in front of the gigantic statues of Memnon.

Marsa Alam - At the end of the tour, you will drive back to Marsa Alam.
