Discovering Marsa Alam: A Journey Through Desert and Sea

Nestled between the vast expanse of the Sahara and the shimmering waters of the Red Sea, Marsa Alam offers a unique blend of cultural and natural wonders. As the sun rises on November 23rd, the clear skies and comfortable temperatures create the perfect backdrop for a day of exploration. With the sun setting at 4:50 PM, there’s ample time to delve into the heart of this enchanting region.

Begin your adventure with a Desert Safari through the majestic desert mountains. This exhilarating jeep safari takes you far from the city’s hustle and bustle, immersing you in the serene beauty of the desert. As you traverse the sand dunes, the breathtaking views unfold before you, offering a glimpse into the timeless landscape that has captivated travelers for centuries.

The journey continues with a visit to a traditional Bedouin village, where you can experience the rich culture and daily life of the local people. Savor the taste of hot Bedouin tea and freshly baked flatbread, a testament to the renowned hospitality of the Bedouins. As the day draws to a close, witness the magnificent desert sunset while enjoying a delicious barbecue dinner under the stars. The evening culminates with a captivating traditional show featuring Tanoura dancers and belly dancers, a celebration of the vibrant culture of the region.

“The real desert experience - As agreed, we were picked up from our hotel by a taxi van. After a short drive, we left the main road and drove into the wilderness. At the Bedouin camp, we were welcomed by our guide Ferris. He introduced us to the residents of the camp. We were welcomed with coffee. After a discussion about the Bedouin customs, the camels were saddled for a short ride. We were also allowed to bake bread. After this, we admired the sunset from a hill together with our guide. In the meantime, our food was prepared in the traditional way. This tasted really good. Meanwhile, Ferris had set up the telescope to view the stars and planets. He gave a very detailed explanation of everything we saw. It was very special to admire the stars in this way.” - Reviewed on 2023-11-28
