• Blue Grotto (Il-Hnejja) - The Blue Grotto should not be mistaken for the Blue Lagoon, which is situated in the North West of the archipelago on the island of Comino. The Blue Grotto is a series of seven caves along the southern coast of the island, directly opposite the small islet of Filfla, and less than a kilometre west of Wied iż-Żurrieq.

The name was given in the 1950s by a British soldier who visited the area and likened it to Capri’s famous Grotta Azzura, meaning ‘Blue Grotto’, due to its stunningly clear, bright blue waters.
