• Golden Temple of Dambulla - Visit the Cave Temple in Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC, and recognized as the most impressive cave temple in Asia. It features five caves beneath a vast overhanging rock, designed with a drip line to keep interiors dry. In 1938, the architecture was enhanced with arched colonnades and gabled entrances. Inside, the ceilings are adorned with intricate patterns of religious images that follow the rock’s contours. The caves house images of Lord Buddha, bodhisattvas, and various gods and goddesses. • Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Next, travel to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, approximately a 30-minute drive from the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of Sri Lanka’s most significant historical locations. Known as the eighth wonder of the world, this breathtaking fortress and temple complex sits atop a high volcanic plateau. The main entrance is shaped like a giant stone lion, with its feet still intact. The palace complex, which also served as a monastery, is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and unique water and boulder gardens. The western wall of Sigiriya is decorated with stunning frescoes.
• Minneriya National Park - Minneriya Park is recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s 70 important bird areas. The park features diverse habitats, including canopy forests, scrubs, grasslands, rocky outcrops, and wetlands. It spans 88.9 sq km and is home to a variety of plants, both rare and common, such as teak and eucalyptus. The park’s main attraction is its large herd of wild elephants, sometimes numbering up to 200. Additionally, the park hosts around 24 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 9 species of amphibians, 25 species of reptiles, 26 species of fish, and 75 species of butterflies. If lucky, visitors might spot one of Sri Lanka’s two endemic monkeys: the Purple-faced Langur and the Toque Macaque. The park also shelters endangered species like the Sri Lankan Leopard and Sri Lankan Sloth Bear.

Our second main attraction is minneriya wildlife sanctuary. Minneriya National Park is its herd of wild elephants, which convene, in large numbers, sometimes up to 200 elephants. According to expert sources the best time to visit the park is between May and September. This is when the tank dries up to reveal a bit of green which attracts the playful and sometimes rare animals of the park.
