Meru temple is acknowledged as the largest temple on Lombok Island. It possesses a distinctive architectural style characterized by its multi-tiered roofed Meru. The temple, made in the 18th century, was a communal effort by 33 villages in Lombok. Mayura Water Palace, constructed in 1744, is inclusive of the ex-royal family’s temple which devout Lombok Hindus visit on December 24. The palace was a battleground for the Dutch and Balinese in 1894 and carries a certain historical significance. Lingsar temple, established since 1714 and built by King Ketut Karangasem’s successor, stands as the biggest shrine on Lombok Island. It’s a unison representation of Hinduism and Islamic Wektu Telu. The most recommended ancient cultural site is Narmada Water Palace. Built by the King of Mataram in 1805, the palace is a re-creation of Mount Rinjani’s summit and Crater Lake. The king constructed this palace when he was no longer capable of ascending the 3,726-metre Rinjani Mountain.
