  • Matemwe - It is on the north-eastern coast of Zanzibar islands, nearby Kiwengwa and 30 minutes driving from Nungwi areas. The people here are mostly local not yet mixed with the international tourism workforce community.

This means it is one amount the rare village where you can experience the Zanzibar ethnic culture.
Your village tours start from the beach (depending on the tide), where you will meet the seaweed farmers. These women work in the seashore every day, harvesting seaweed for European and Asian markets. You will learn about farming and try it out yourself!

You will get to know them inside of Matemwe village. There are two visits to women making local handicrafts and a possibility to try it out yourself and to buy the products of the women cooperative. You will visit mosque and learn about village life.

You can also visit a witch doctor who will take away all of your bad spirits and other sufferings with his rituals and herbs. There is a Swahili style lunch at a local home.
