Absolutely amazing!!’ - Went out yesterday on the Aloha Kai with Derek and Alyssa and it is an experience I will always remember! Derek and Alyssa are great! They are both super fun and nice and I learned so many things about whales that I really did not remember from when I have gone before. The boat is small, it was just six of us, which was awesome. I have never been on a boat that small whale watching, this is absolutely the way to go! We saw so many humpbacks and a few had babies in tow, one baby looked like it probably wasn't born too long ago. We saw the mother and the baby breaching over and over again. It was so awesome!! Thank you guys for an absolutely fantastic morning !!

Experience of a lifetime - Up close and personal with the whales. The captain and the naturalist went out of their way to find active whales. We had the experience of a lifetime! There was a pair of whales that spent about 20 minutes playfully going under our boat and another boat close by. They rolled over and floated on the surface, splashed us, and were within about 10 feet of the boat. Incredible time! Every seat is a good seat and you get as close as you can be. It is a raft so it is a bit of a bumpy ride. I would not recommend it for someone who gets seasick. For anyone else, it is the best way to experience the whales.

The BEST experience! - We went on this tour March 2025. I cannot say enough good things about this tour! We saw so many whales and the staff was awesome. They get you close enough to see the whales, but that is still legal, yet the whales are so curious they come up to you. We had them so close, and under our boat for almost an hour. The naturalist is very knowledgeable. We also saw a pod of spinner dolphins which followed us out. I see there are a couple of not so nice reviews on here - I don't know what world those people live in. This trip was definitely safe, extremely fun, worth the money, & we definitely would do it again. Make sure you book in the early morning when weather is less windy. We did a 9am tour.

Fun times - Ultimate Whale Watch is simply the best. We went 10 times. Everytime was great. The skippers and crew are knowledgeable, reliable, fun and crazy about whales. We also appreciate the mission of the company to help with research and NOAA’s disentanglement efforts. Cudos to you all.

Amazing on a raft! - It was great not having a lot of boat structure blocking views. The raft is the way to go! Particularly with the knowledgeable crew, Kalli and Kayli ❤️❤️

Always our first booked activity. - This is always our first booking when coming to Maui. This trip we went twice!! Small rubber boats zip you to the whales. Expert crews give you all the info. Breaching whales, listening to the whales singing…always a total blast no matter what. Many whales! Book this first!

World Class Whale Watching - I live on Maui. I only use The Ultimate Whale Watch Tour company when I want to impress my visitors. They are never disappointed. This family run operation runs circles around the other tour groups. If you want an authentic up close tour with well informed crew there is no better option. Breaches, mother and baby interactions and some serious battles between male whales. In your vace.

No way would I go with this tour company again! Faulty advertising!! Don't do it .... just don't do it! - My husband and I were stoked to have been able to book a whale-watching trip with Ultimate Whale Watch, but were absolutely livid by the time the "trip" was over. First of all, I had called the morning of our trip to find out if we would have to get out to the boat in the water, or if the boat would pull up to a dock, and was told that it would pull up to a dock, so there would be no need to wear a swimsuit for the trip. Big mistake!!! The only true thing about the conversation was that we would load the boat via a dock. My husband and I arrived a full 20 minutes prior to the trip, per the directions from Ultimate. Apparently, as you check in, you receive a lanyard with a number. We were number 10 out of 11, and we had to load the boat in numerical order. By the time we got onto the boat, there were no seats left. There were 8 (I believe) sets of seats, with each seating 2, for a total of 16. Problem was that there were approximately 24 of us. I was literally forced to sit on the side of the pontoon and hold on to a rope to keep from falling out, and there was a Yeti cooler (apparently, where we were to keep our things from getting wet or thrown out of the boat) that dug into my legs the entire time. Not a problem I suppose, unless you have rheumatoid arthritis like I do. I was NOT expecting to literally have to hold onto a rope to stay inside the boat. And because I was at the front of the boat, the spray from the ocean as the boat was speeding along got me - and my camera gear - soaking wet! Not what was written about in the brochure. The boat was 10 minutes late leaving the dock, with a promise from the captain to make up the time ..... never happened. Which I guess turned out good, considering I was sore, literally bruised, and soaking wet by the time we returned to the dock. I will say that the girl who was the whale expert (I THINK her name was Casey) was wonderful, and seemed to know her stuff and was passionate about the whales. She was the ONLY good thing about the trip, except perhaps the whales themselves. The captain was arrogant and rude, especially when I asked him to speak louder about whatever information he was doling out. Look, I'm totally not a complainer, and I'm not some old woman who is hard of hearing and an invalid. I'm a perfectly healthy middle aged woman - who just happens to have RA - but this trip was a total disaster. Perhaps if you were one of the people who got a real seat, didn't get wet, and was able to hear all of the information, it would have been worth the cost. Oh, and by the way, we did get to see some whales. I suppose the whales AND Casey made the trip whatever worthwhile there was to be had.
