First time surfing - We had a great time learning to surf for the first time. The instructor was very friendly, helpful and easy to follow. He made it really fun. I highly recommend it.

Fun Activity! - I had a great time learning to surf! The instructions to find the meeting spot were vague, so it's probably a good thing they say to arrive 30 minutes before your start time. The instructor called me and directed me to where the tour was starting. There was no yellow umbrella to look out for, which led to my confusion. However the lesson itself was easy to follow and after about 20 minutes we went into the water. Everyone in the session stood up at least once. The instructors were great at finding waves and telling us when to paddle and stand up. Definitely recommend.

Great for beginners - The experience was great!! We were all beginners and never been on a board. Christian and Tyler made everything so easy. Highly recommend these guys if you are looking to learn to surf!!

Good lesson to start surfing - Always wanted to surf and was on a solo trip in Maui. Finally got the courage to try at the ripe age of 38 and the experience probably changed my life. The teachers at ISA are very professional and give compact and precise instructions, nothing extra but everything you need to know when you start. I got along with them really well and they were fun to be around. I’m an athletic person and I’m used to listening to instructions carefully so I felt like I got the hang of it pretty fast and felt very safe the whole time. The waves were perfect for a beginner but still enough to practice the basic moves. It was pretty challenging to find the meeting spot at the Kaanapali Beach because there were so many other surf schools at the same time, but just look for the color of rashguards they tell you they are wearing and come early! The lesson took actually about 1h 15mins but to be fair, I was so sore the next day that it’s not a good idea to surf for hours when you’re not used to it just yet. The only down side of this experience is the price (90$) which is quite high. I’d like to have maybe another lesson before going alone because I’m not familiar with the waters in Maui, but I’m afraid I cannot afford it. :/ But everything in Maui is pricey, so I guess it is what it is. All in all, this is a good experience for anyone who wants to find out if surfing is for them. They provide all the equipment and tips, and as a solo traveller, it’s always safer to join groups first when you try something new. I’m afraid I have been bitten by the surf bug now, and there might be no turning back. Be careful guys ;) And stay loose!

Surfs Up! - We had a great time surfing on Ka'anapali Beach in Maui. Our instructor Christian was knowledgeable and encouraging. It was a little challenging to find the location to meet for the tour. As there were no signs or flags. After walking to the other end of the beach, we eventually found the correct location. Christian took the time to educate each of us on how to approach each wave. Always reminding us to paddle hard. We would recommend ISA Surf School to anyone who wants to try surfing without leaving Ka'anapali Beach.

Awful - Worst surf school in Maui. The surf instructor , nick, only cared about how many people he could fit into a class , not about safety. He is greedy and my child almost got hurt because he was rushing. It wasn’t worth my time or money . I would give this surf school negative stars if I could . The old owner was better when we went last year.
