- Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary - Embark on a kayaking adventure from Maui’s stunning Olowalu Beach, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains and the pristine waters of Olowalu Reef.
Situated within the Hawaiian Islands National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary, Olowalu is a vibrant habitat for thousands of colorful tropical fish, hundreds of Giant Green Sea Turtles, and serves as the winter birthing grounds for the North Pacific Humpback Whale. Annually, from December to May, approximately 15,000 Humpback Whales visit the area to give birth and breed before heading back to their summer feeding grounds in Alaska.
The experienced and knowledgeable guides are well-versed in kayaking through Hawaiian waters. They are Certified Hawaii Marine Naturalists, hold American Red Cross CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard certifications, and are equipped with 2-way VHF Marine Radios. Each excursion offers expert insights into whale behavior, marine science, and island history. Whale sightings are guaranteed from January through March, with close encounters being a frequent occurrence!
