Great instruction! - Awesome place, as usual. My daughter had a private lesson and her instructor was awesome! She was able to get up on her board several times and was given tips on how to stay balanced longer too. She felt well taken care of and safe, as well as having a blast.

A great experience for a kid! - This experience was everything we hoped it would be for our grandson! A truly personal surf lesson that had him up on the board on his first try. Kekoa then spent the next 90 minutes tutoring, guiding, and encouraging our 10-year-old; he was beyond fantastic! I can't recommend Maui Wave Riders enough!

Highly recommend! Attentive instruction dedicated to making sure you have a great experience! - Shout out to my awesome surf instructor Eddie at Maui Waveriders Kihei! I took a private lesson yesterday and had a blast! Would highly recommend booking with Maui Waveriders - very professional, friendly, great communication, and stood up on a ton of waves! One thing that stood out to me about Maui Waveriders was that they had a quality instructor-to-group ratio, from what I saw out there - really attentive instruction, with essentially one instructor per family that was taking a lesson. Really impressive since many "surf schools" just jam as many people into a lesson as they can. You could tell Maui Waveriders really made sure everyone was getting personalized attention, which is the best way to make sure you're getting the most out of your lesson and best chance of catching and standing up on waves. All the instructors were focused on making sure their group was having a good experience, as well as helping each other out and even giving tips to beginners who weren't taking lessons. Such a supportive and friendly atmosphere. As for my instructor, Eddie did a great job of explaining the break, getting me into the pocket to catch the waves, tips on body positioning and turning that were really helpful, and just really dedicated to making sure I had a great experience. I've been surfing for many years, but always like to take a lesson with an instructor for any new spot - there's always things to learn to improve your surfing as well as make sure you're following local etiquette and the ins and outs of the break. Eddie really made me feel comfortable and safe out there, and the tips he gave me were insightful and helped improve my surfing. More importantly, you could tell he really loves not just teaching surfing but encouraging a love of the sport. Would highly recommend him as an instructor! Also quick shout out to the photographers (NoKaOi Photography)! Don't really have a lot of photos of myself surfing, so it was worth it to get some quality action pics. Photos were great and the package was a great value! Hiring a professional photographer just for myself would have been waaay more expensive, so this was a great service that NoKaOi and Maui Waveriders provided. Great way to capture your vacation! Plus, got the pics sent to me within a few hours and no issues downloading them.

Great surfing lesson! - Andrew is an excellent surf instructor. He's got all the pro tips, and makes it very easy to learn. I got up on my first wave, and many more after that (last time up on a wave was 42 years earlier!).

Friendly wave house with a relaxed environment! - Very inviting establishment. Everyone who worked there had a smile and their face and very friendly. Instructor”Oha” was wonderful with our son (13 years old). He was very patient and encouraging! We will definitely return!

Epic surf lesson in Kihei - Maui waveriders was EPIC! My 13 year old son had an amazing experience riding the waves with Derek who was a fantastic instructor! This adventure was a highlight on our trip! Thanks to Andrew as well who hooked us up!

Can confirm, caught some waves. - My husband and I stayed nearby this facility in Kihei and found these lessons online with great reviews. It was very easy to get too but parking availability is small so just park at the beach and walk over. This was my first time ever surfing and I went solo as my husband didn’t want to do it, so I paid for the private lesson (only option for solo surfers). I arrived early to sign the waiver and was seated outside to wait for my instructor, get my shoes and slap on some sunscreen. I had my own rash guard BUT they do offer free ones for the lesson (seriously do this, you’ll want one). First few minutes I learned the basics on land, and we were ready to rock. My instructor was fantastic and friendly, he took my board out there and literally walked me on the board to the waves! (I can’t remember his name but was an excellent teacher) I was told that the 11:30-1:30 lesson was somewhat risky as the waves could be there or they won’t be. Fortunately I lucked out and while we did wait for some, there were enough waves to get me up and going. If you are considering this, it might be better to go to the lesson before 11:30 for sake of more frequent waves, however, when I went there was like maybe 5 people in the water for the waves at the point so there was no running into anyone else! All in all it was a great lesson, we ran over time for sake of catching the waves which was awesome to know they want their students to succeed and catch the waves! I do recommend to come here for lessons! My only gripe(s) is communication and no photos. I had emailed earlier in the week asking a question about the lessons with no reply, and tried to call before the day of my lesson to book in since online said to call and book for availability, but no call back. I was able to book online the morning of so perhaps someone cancelled and it reopened the time slot. In terms of photos, I did see their photographer out taking wicked photos of the lesson before mine, and I expected the same, but unfortunately he did not come out for mine and was packed up when I got back from my lesson. Minor bummer but I wasn’t sure if that was only a group thing or if solo lessons are supposed to have it too.. my husband did his best to take photos from the shore at least.
