Makgadikgadi Pans National Park - In the morning, you will travel 192 km in a safari game viewer vehicle on a paved road with a professional guide to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, located southeast of the Okavango Delta and surrounded by the Kalahari Desert. The Makgadikgadi Pan is a salt pan in the middle of the dry savanna of northeastern Botswana and is one of the largest salt flats in the world. Following the rainy season, the pan becomes a crucial habitat for migrating animals, including wildebeest and one of Africa’s largest zebra populations. Enjoy a wonderful morning and afternoon game drive inside the Makgadikgadi Pans. As very few animals migrate in and out of the pan, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, jackals, antelopes, and meerkats.

In the delta, you will meet the local mokoro (dug-out canoe) poler who will serve as your guide. The activity will be conducted by the community guide, and our chef and camp assistants will be there with you. Upon arrival in the delta, you will get into a canoe/mokoro and head to the camping grounds on the island of the delta where you will have lunch and a siesta. In the late afternoon, go for a walking safari, experiencing the art of safari while walking on the same ground as animals like zebras, elephants, red lechwe, blue wildebeest, and various bird species like pied kingfisher, cormorant, and the African darter.

You’ll check in to a Maun hotel or lodge a day prior to the start of your safari, allowing you to commence your adventure bright and early the following morning. Your journey encompasses the Makgadikgadi National Park and the Okavango Delta. Situated to the southeast of the Okavango Delta and enveloped by the Kalahari Desert is the Makgadikgadi National Park. At its core lies the Makgadikgadi Pan, one of the world’s largest salt flats, occupying the arid savannah of north-eastern Botswana. Despite the severe dry season characterized by intense heat, strong winds, and salt water scarcity, this location transforms into a vital migratory stopover post-rainy season. It teems with wildlife, such as wildebeest, one of the largest zebra herds in Africa, flamingos, as well as the sizeable predators that hunt them.
