Maun - DAY 1 Maun
Upon your arrival at Maun airport in Botswana, your safari guide will greet you with a sign that reads “Outdoor African Tour Safari.” Following a safari briefing, you’ll visit local shops to purchase any necessary items. You’ll spend the night at a luxury base camp in Maun.
OKAVANGO DELTA
Okavango Delta - At the delta, you’ll transfer your gear to a mokoro and navigate the narrow, papyrus-lined channels of the impressive Okavango Delta. You’ll spend a day exploring this stunning area through mokoro excursions and guided walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango.
MAUN
Maun - Today, you’ll retrace your steps back to Maun. You have the option to take a scenic flight over the delta. The 45-minute flight costs 200 USD per person, with a minimum of 3 guests required to guarantee the flight. This enchanting experience offers a different perspective of the Okavango Delta’s unique water system. Note that the scenic flights are at your own expense.
MOREMI GAME RESERVE
Moremi Game Reserve - From Maun, you’ll drive to Moremi Game Reserve, a region of both swamp and dry areas. Over two days, you’ll search for the diverse wildlife and birds that this area is famous for, while soaking in the sounds and beauty of the region. Enjoy early morning game drives as the sun rises and late afternoon drives as it sets. After your morning game drive, you’ll return to camp for lunch and rest before your late afternoon drive.
MOREMI GAME RESERVE
Moremi Game Reserve - This exceptional National Park has earned several notable distinctions. In 2008, it was named the ‘best game reserve in Africa’ by the African Travel and Tourism Association at South Africa’s premier tourism fair, Indaba. It is the first reserve in Africa established by local residents. Concerned about the rapid decline of wildlife in their ancestral lands due to uncontrolled hunting and cattle encroachment, the Batawana people of Ngamiland, led by the late Chief Moremi III’s wife, Mrs. Moremi, took the bold step to declare Moremi a game reserve in 1963. It is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta, holding significant scientific, environmental, and conservation value. Moremi is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, possibly the world.
SAVUTI
Savuti - At sunrise, you’ll break camp and embark on a long game drive to Savuti. As you continue your wildlife search, you’ll visit the drier region of Savuti, known for its predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs. The Savuti channel, which started flowing again after being dry for 30 years, has transformed the landscape and attracted species that previously couldn’t survive in the arid plains. This change has brought large breeding herds of elephants and buffalo to the area.
SAVUTI
Savuti - Continue exploring the area’s wildlife, topography, and vegetation. The region is also known for its ancient rock paintings. After your game drives, take a break for lunch and prepare for an afternoon drive.
SAVUTI
Savuti - On this day, you’ll have an early morning game drive as you head to your next destination, Chobe National Park. During the rainy season, the water transforms the Savuti Marsh and Mababe Depression into wetlands, attracting hundreds of thousands of birds and animals. You’ll see herds of buffalo, prides of lions, packs of wild dogs, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, sable antelopes, tsessebes, wildebeests, and many wild birds. You’ll have a packed lunch en route.
CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Chobe National Park - Your next destination is Chobe National Park, which spans about 11,700 square kilometers of the Northern Kalahari. Much of the park is covered in impenetrable thorn bush growing on deep sand, and it has the highest concentration of elephants in the world.
CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Chobe National Park - The Chobe River is the park’s main water source and features mopane woodlands, floodplains, grasslands, and combretum, offering a diverse ecosystem. The park has one of the largest concentrations of African elephants. General game viewing and birdwatching are excellent year-round, with elephants, buffalo, and zebras migrating seasonally based on water and food availability. You’ll enjoy a late afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River until 1700hrs, then return to camp for dinner.
VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE
Victoria Falls - Your next stop is Victoria Falls, located on the Zambezi River, the fourth largest river in Africa, which forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world over a kilometer long and over a hundred meters high, making it the largest waterfall globally. The roar of Victoria Falls can be heard from 40 kilometers away, and the spray and mist rise over 400 meters, visible from 50 kilometers away. It’s no wonder the local tribes called it Mosi-o-Tunya, “The smoke that thunders.” Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the people of Zambia and Zimbabwe have successfully developed tourism on both sides of the river. All entrance and Victoria Falls fees are at your own expense.
VICTORIA FALLS
Victoria Falls - Wake up early for a hearty breakfast at the lodge and continue enjoying activities at Victoria Falls. The guides will bid you farewell around 1000hrs, marking the end of the safari.
